Anyone do Group-N mounts on BE/BH?

I have an 02 legacy (AT) that I was trying to install some group-n motor mounts (purchased from fredbeans off nasioc). I can't get the motor back in for the life of me, its almost an inch forward in its current state. the mounts were positioned and matched to the OEM ones prior the install to make sure they fit correctly.

Anyone have tips for me? Its coming to the point where I can't have the car be on jack stands much longer, and am considering towing/paying for a shop to finish the work.

also anyone with pics of it installed on BE/BH, i'd be grateful!!

How did you install these?

Did you jack up the motor?
Did you remove the motor and are now reinstalling it?

If you are only 1 inch away then it sounds like you are snagged on something. On top of Chucks questions, did you jack your tranny up to if you removed the motor? If so, is it still in the same position it was when you separated the two?

There was a previous discussion on this and the suggestion for not lining up was that you may have the polarity of the mounts switched - there is only one correct side for each mount.

Also, I'm going to move this to the engine forum as your thread title in this forum looks like you're asking about tophats.

blocks of wood under the oil pan and a jack. rear trans mount was simple, thinking about taking off the hood and using the engine hoist to push it back. just been too busy to put any time into it to be honest.

sorry for the late reply, i thought the thread got deleted.

i usually do one mount at a time, but upon removal of the driver side mount, the engine shifted forward, undid the passenger side mount and its just seems impossible to get back in w/the jack alone.

So wait, you jacked up the engine, and replaced one mount, and then the other?
Did you loosen the trans mount as well?

If you didn't, loosen the trans mount, and the other engine mount. You'll need a friend to push on the engine a bit while you lie under the car and wiggle it around until it drops into place.

Sounds to me like you have tension on the engine or have snagged something up a bit higher. Don't push too hard or you'll break something.

If the dog bone is still mounted up on the trans, that might be part of the problem also...
