Hello to all! New to the forum so if I've lacked my amount of research prior to creating this post I apologize in advance. Ive got a 93 legacy turbo wagon, 4eat with a custom turboback exhaust. I am curious as to see if anyone has converted the non-intercooled ej22t with an intercooler from a WRX. Through a few hours of research I came up inconclusive with any results. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys and gals https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2012/12/erezy5am-1.jpg

yes it can be done.
I'll give you a quick summary but I expect you to do more research.
Intercoolers:
JDM wrx/sti pre-2001 fit the best
USDM 02-03 WRX need lots of work to make them clear the firewall
USDM 04-07 WRX & Forester XT fit much nicer but require some modifications.
Saab 900 Intercooler (requires lots of work but fits so nice)
(MAKE SURE YOU GET THE Y-PIPE!!!)
Fitment:
You will need to re-work the turbo-to-IC piping. This usually requires a 90 degree coupler and some extra piping.
Adapters:
You will need to adapt your BPV (by-pass-valve a.k.a the re-circulator)
Some people buy adapters from various sources or they just make their own.
Some people allow their BPV to vent to atmosphere (not recommended)
..
Another route is to upgrade your turbo to a TD04 or TD05 but this may require a new tune.
Read this.

and just spend some time getting to know the inner workings of your engine bay.

Welcome to the forum!
Can always be done... It's just how much work you want to do... I've seen a few none intercooler Volvo running retrofitted intercoolers. Chuk has given you a good amount of info to start with for sure!
NOTE: These cars are by no means stock...

Hey, they dont look that much different! LOL
I'm sure a stock WRX TMIC can be had pretty cheap these days and you could even use a cheap Ebay pipe kit or find a guy that did a FMIC and get all his old parts. The configuration of the motor is not too far off.

The 06/07 TMIC is by far your best bet.
You can also chop 1/2" off the throttle body for more firewall clearance.

If you aren't upgrading the turbo, don't even waste your time and money. It takes a lot of retrofitting to get it to work, and you will gain nothing from intercooling the stock turbo.
