So while I am waiting on hoses to come in for the 22T. We decided to replace shifter bushings and go with the WRX linkage. Started removing the tranny crossmember and 2 bolts are loose like the capture nut on the other side broke.

How do I fix this? Cut out the floor? This was like this when I got under there. Nothing I did to confirm so I have no idea how it happened.

My friends 97 legacy was like that. Sadly the only way I was able to fix it was to hammer a nut in there and weld it. Hope you have a welder, otherwise i can't think of another way.

I just had to do the same thing on my Legacy...We cut above it and got a wrench in there to hold it still. PITA!

What was your method of finding where to cut the floor exactly?

I did it from the bottom. Right above the cross member bolt.

Here's a pic I had on my phone, I know it's not the greatest but it's all I have right now. I may be heading out to our shop this weekend if I can pick up a tranny mount so I can get ya some better pics if you need them.

This is the front cross member passenger side bolt, from the front of the car. For some reason there was another nut on the bolt, I'm assuming as a spacer, so whoever "fixed" it before got it to stay.

I am going to do it from the top of the car I think which may be the easiest.

Not yet. Not exactly excited to be doing this. Dont want to mess it up beyond repair

Yea I know what you mean, it took me forever to even get the courage to go at it with more than just the socket and breaker bar ha.

Having my mechanic/boss/friend do it since he has been in this rodeo more than once.
