woah, nice and slow with that little mileage, you'll shave a lot of life off of your car 'hammering' it. And, yes, there is some piston clatter inherent to the Subaru boxer engine. Totally normal, if it does bug you a lot, use Lucas oil additives and it'll smooth it out some.

Edit:There should also be a DIY thread coming soon about what to fix to eliminate that noise...

Are you looking for a supercharger or a tubrocharger because theres a bit difference although subaru has a concept that has a Eaton Supercharger in it the Subaru ST-X Sport Utility Pickup looks alot like the Baja, http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/naias/subaru.html , http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performance/images/St-X/st-x03.jpg
Other then that if you have about $3500 laying around i would go for a tubrocharger :wink:

Actually I did something different then in the DIY section.

I went to the local craft store (Hobby Lobby, Michael's, whatever else you have) and bought transparent red spray paint.

It was in the stained glass section, not the spray paint section.

Then I sprayed the bulbs for my guage cluster, and for my dome/map lights I sprayed the INSIDE of the covers for them.

I probably have the least amount of mods! All my time has been spent on maintenance and just keeping the old chassis on the road.

I've had numerous problems with rust in the upper frame due to an undisclosed rust problem... :cry:

1998 BD GT 4EAT, currently 180,000miles on original motor and transmission.

Performance:
adjustable Cusco rear swaybar (18-20-22) $40 (swapped for stocker + cash)
snorkelectomy $0
GFB lightweight crank pulley $75
replaced both cats with front cat eliminator $230
no-name front strut brace $20

Exterior:
WRX wheels $0 (swapped with 02 RS owner for GT stockers :lol: )
35% and 20% tint $140
Repaint of hood, bumpers and rear quarter panels...more $$ than I wanted to deal with. :evil:

Maintenance: :lol:
replaced transmission mount
replaced both O2 sensors
cured torque bind using Lubegard ATF Protectant
replaced radiator hoses
rewired keyless entry system and "door open" mechanism to activate dome lights etc.
replaced broken center vents
replaced HVAC unit (can now crack one open to replace burned out bulbs)
installed Outback CD player

HAHA, honey huh. I'm not offended i just don't think i really have jack s**t for power mods, maybe like 8-10 bhp added..... mayyybe.

The real problem is that there is only 1 4 wheel dyno that i know of in WA and it's not cheap. I'll try and get around to that next summer when I'm back in Seattle.

Because I don't know them. Since I'm not a race mechanic, I left the build up to a friend (who also has his own shop). I just told him what I wanted to be able to do, and left him to sort out how best to go about it. I've been told a few times what was done specifically, but all I ever remember is what I wrote.

hey guys im new to the forum and just wanted to post up on what ive done to my leggy it was crashed early this year doin 110km which nearly killed it but i love my legacy so when that happened i decided to put money into it and see what i could do keep in mind i still got abit of work to be done i want to get it painted in eboney black 2K. it just about due to come out of the shop where the engine loom had to be rewired for my single turbo conversion and the lights were done...needs a new back door some guy scraped my passengers rear door to the boot
which pissed me off and both rear windows were smashed by an ex....lol.....other than that just minor things really...i have pics on my journey so ill try put them up asap...id really like to get feedback on it and hear any mods you guys havedone that i could use or have any advice

Snow, that would be rather helpful if you could. Do the fit na motor? I have not seen one in the states (rare to see subaru in yard). Looking for headlights too and a rfrb grill

2001 Outback VDC

This is the first year for VDC and the 45/55 to 50/50 AWD torque split using VTD center differential in an Outback. It was the top of Subarus line up going in to luxury. I bought this car Jan 2012. It had a new set of Michelins (10k miles), fuel pump (40k miles) and ran Mobil 1 Synthetic in everything. All the receipts from the first oil change were in a folder in the car. I am the second owner.

February brought a transmission rebuild and an added trans cooler.

Build:

The engine is a stock EZ30D (I swapped in a stock JDM from a Lancaster 6 with 200k km less due to lifter noise from the OE engine. Its was quicker.)

3.0 SC mounting brackets/bolts, Bosch multigroove serpentine belt; all came from Raptor Superchargers. (I did have to modify the support bracket that mounts to the cylinder head to make clearance for #3 injector harness. I just shaved off about 10 mm in a soft arc at the base to allow for the harness to have a little "wiggle" room.)

Deatsch Werks DW300 fuel pump. (I first installed a DW200, but stepped up thinking the flow was too low. The DW200 could've been sufficient, but with what we are seeing now, its "iffy". This engine wants fuel and lots of it.)

Aeromotive 13301 Fuel Pressure Regulator with all the fittings and mount bracket. (Got this from a local performance shop, Austin Performance)
2002 Impreza 3 gauge pod A-pillar - modified to fit and painted to match OE trim
Several feet of 3/4" and 3/8" rubber hose for the coolers including a few feet of 16 ga wire and toggle switches for the pumps and added fan and a lot of vacuum hose.

A lot of miscellaneous parts here and there to finish out details.

The exhaust was fitted with 2.75" piping from the collectors rearward with two 6.2L rated catalytic converters, one 24" glass pack mounted just behind the trans, and a high flow Magna muffler at the bumper where the original was. Flow and quiet low tone sound.

Currently, the suspension is 01 Legacy KYB struts with the Outback springs for a 1.75" drop and 18X8+45 Motegi F77 rims and 245/45/18 Nankang AS radials.
Both rear lower control arms replaced
OE rear sway links
Front rear lower arm bushings
Rear differential bushings are temporarily repaired with Window Weld and holding up great

All the ECM tuning was performed by Ed @ XTreme Racing Tuning.
All the mechanical installation was performed by me with exception to the exhaust and transmission work.
Transmission is still undergoing surgery for issues from a shift kit installation to get rid of the soft shifts after 3rd burned up. It was apparently doing it prior to the SC install and the adaptive shifting was covering it up.

WRX MAP sensor installed with the DW 650 cc injectors. Scaling has finally been corrected. The ECM reads the sensor perfect and boost pressure from the ECM matches the Innovate gauges.
