Im curious as to whether the US BD/BG GT has a turbo. It has the hood scoop for the intercooler but from what ive seen its just a EJ25D. Can someone enlighten me

No. Not ever. It's just a fake scoop that looks cool and flaps around on the highway.

Not entirely true. It is a real scoop and provides even more air once the backing plate is removed. Yes the usdm gt (or any usdm second gen legacy) was never turbo however if the owner swapped to a turbocharged engine and kept the top mount than the hood scoop would push air onto the top mount. Unfortunately being na it does next to nothing and is merely for cosmetic pleasure than function.

No BG/BD/BK got a turbo in North America. The first Legacy, other then the first gen, that got a turbo was in 2005. The Impreza didnt get a turbo till 2002.
All BG/BD/BK's with scoops are 97-99 GT's and Outbacks had EJ25D N/A's, but no turbos. No Legacy from 95-96 had a scoop factory.

That's a myth.
The scoop backing plate, if removed, does not provide any useable air into the air intake. All it does is allow water to drip onto an exposed knock sensor that would normally be protected by a proper Top Mount InterCooler (TMIC).
You already know it's for aesthetics because Subaru America couldn't get the 94-98 JDM turbo engine to pass the USA's EPA standards, so they opted to up the cylinder volume to try to make up for it, hence the EJ25D.

I was referring to more air on a top mount if the car was swapped
