EJ25D heads on EJ253 block?

Ok so I know you can put any ej series head on any ej series motor but has anyone ever replaced their EJ25D block with an EJ253 block? I picked one up the other night and plan on swapping it in. The 25D in the car has a rod knock. I have a pair of low mile 25D heads that I plan on using with the 253. If you have done it what was the outcome? I hear it's a better N/A block to have. I will take pics and keep a log of how things go. I am doing a complete rebuild on the block before I put it all together.

It will work. I believe the head gasket you want is for the block in this case. When I basically did this in reverse (EJ251 heads on an EJ25D block) the pistons came above the deck out of the EJ25D block, necessitating the use of the thicker (EJ25D) head gaskets.

I think the 253 pistons protrude out past the block too, but cool thanks man! :grin:

Yes, this can be done.
Just make sure that you use the 25D crank gear so the 25D ECU will run it & you will be all good.
You should gain a little more power after doing that block swap.

I might not actually use it, I talked to someone about an EJ22T so I may pick that up and actually use my turbo setup.
