I still have to get more info and pics but a friend with a salvage license told me he can get me a 2002 wrx 5mt that was t-boned and totaled for $1500. It has 126,xxx miles and some basic engine and suspension mods but is running and will drive and is otherwise clean. Id like to use the running gear and suspension along with seats and steering wheel and stuff in my BD and make what I can parting out the rest. I know this guy is licensed and legit, but he usually just deals in 4x4 stuff. Is this a good deal and worth pursuing?

if its running and just a T-Bone then thats a steal! I would still low ball or offer cash but all in all low mileage turbo for $1500 = shock face

Ask your friend if it has a Cobb Access Port tuner floating around on the floorboard or in the trunk... then it would be a HUGE STEAL.

definitely a good price. running wrx engine alone is worth $1500

ECU = 150
Harness = 300
EJ205 long block = 1000-1500
5MT = $500
R160 LSD = $250
Axles = $25-50 a piece
That doesn't even include the supporting turbo items.

Wow crazy good deal I'd buy that in a heartbeat and swap the heads onto my 257 and do a harness ecu swap and run accessport obd2. Part out the rest and I'd at least be even. Probably make money.

cool, I figured it was a steal. It still runs and drives, just major structural damage on the passenger side,as in, the doors and b pillar are pushed in far enough to touch the seats. I don't know how extensive the mods are. I keep hearing the wiring is a nightmare for a swap, but with the intact harness, how bad will it be.Are there any complete DIYs for this swap floating around?

$1500 is cash price. Hes getting it $1100 I guess and then there are some fees he has to pay with that plus some cash for him for his time.

Where in the hell are you getting those prices?!
Try $2200-3000 for a motor
And $1100-1500 for a trans
Is going rate here...
Jump on that car now! I would kill for a complete WRX parts car for that price. I'm going to be spending $3000-4500 when I get one. One just sold for $4000 that I was looking at. Just a stock EJ25D around here goes for $900-1500.
