handling upgrades?

So I just bought a 1999 outback again :cool:. and after I do the head gaskets again and get it on the road I want to do something to tighten up the body roll on it. My big question is where can I find a nice set of white line sway bars and bushings (link would be nice) and what else can i do to tighten up my ride without spending a lot on suspension?

Tribeca front sway bar is a cheap upgrade but you would need a bigger rear sway bar for the rear to balance it out. You can also upgrade the sway bar bushing and endlinks if your on a budget. Ebay wrx rear strut bar is also inexpensive upgrade.

I got my tribeca fsb online (dealership from WA i think) for $60 shipped. I think someone here found it cheaper somewhere

would a sti sway bar fit if so what would be a better upgrade and whiteline sway bar made for my car or an sti sway bar or even an aftermarket sway bar for an sti? and would an h brace fit on my car?

The rear strut bar from and 02-07 wrx wagon will work. I have one on my car. For the front you would need one from 97-01 Impreza. My friend, Rubie_25GT has one on his car.

do you notice an upgrade in handling once you put that on or is that one of those "just for looks things"

^I'm pretty sure I did on mine. It was very slight, but noticeable. I think because the wagon makes room for luggage space instead of body bracing. It makes sense to me.

For Whiteline stuff, I've dealt with "neverenoughauto" on ebay. I was accidentally shipped a subaru FSB instead of the RSB I ordered, but they were awesome about correcting the issue. After I contacted them, they sent the correct RSB I ordered plus a prepaid shipping sticker to put on the other incorrect FSB. No other problems with them, and honestly I recommend them because of how well they handled the situation, very professional.

I bought a $30 rear strut bar and I think it made the back a little more rigid. I think its a little more composed in corners now.

Get front and read endlinks, 20 or 22mm rear sway, sub-frame locking bolts and then an alignment and tell us what else you think it needs.

I noticed a bigger improvement from upgrading the endlinks than I did from the strut bar.

Now,who knows of another parts distributor that has rear endlinks that are fairly priced and have a good rep. Whiteline's are $125 which is a little too steep............

These were the ones I ordered on rockauto:

They're aluminum endlinks with pillowball bushings. The top part of the endlink is threaded (M10x1.25 IIRC) and the bottom is open to run a bolt through (obviously it needs to be to connect to the lateral links. About $40 shipped for a pair.

How are the Hardrace ones holding up?

Getting a new set of shocks will improve handling also. My car has Bilstein's that I got from 4wheelonline. The ride is more controlled now.
