So the BF and I were out driving today and everything was fine. We left a store headed to another and as he was taking off from traffic light and he dumped the clutch and the car would not let him go into 2nd or allow u to push the stick to the right. Basically we were stuck in first! :smt022 WTF could this be? Anybody ever have an issue like this?

not sure what car you are talking about.

Yes the WRX tranny will work as long as the rear diff you currently have is the same final drive... otherwise you need to get the matching rear diff from the WRX tranny.

Ok Ive been corrected its just an Impreza tranny. I'm looiking to see if a 08 Impreza trans will bolt right up to my 97 Legacy GT? DO i need to change anything else?
Also anybody know where i can find out what Ratio the trans are for both Legacy GT and Impreza?

you will need a VSS pro to convert your abs signal into a VSS signal that the ECU can read because the 08+ tranny's dont have a vehicle speed sensor screwed into them.

You will also need newer axles that are male to male instead of male to female like what you have now.

cars101.com is a GREAT resource for things like final drives.

1. Calm down.
2. Beat your boyfriend, and make him pay for the repair.
3. It sounds like the shifter linkage got jammed when he dumped the clutch. Do you hear any grinding sounds when in 1st? Can you shift to neutral?

One of you guys need to push the clutch and the other check and see if the clutch fork moves in the engine bay. If it doesnt move, then the fork might be bent or cracked
