Best place for heater core/blower motor

So I need a blower motor and heater core for my 98'. Are all created equal? I can get a core and blower off rockauto.com for like $80, is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

just a warning some subaru heater cores are full welded assembly's and aftermarket units wont work (dont come with in/outlet lines). i've used spectra before was ok with descent fit.

DO NOT get an aftermarket heater core! I did that and I regret it! They dont fit proper and the quality is not so good!

As for a blower motor, go to the junk yard. Mine is ran 24/7 and has 253K on it. They last a long time. It just might need a really good cleaning to work better. I'm sure you can get one for like $20. I might even have one...

Is your heater core leaking? if not is it clogged? I have taker heater cores out before and setup a small thingamajig to blow compressor air in the opposite flow direction with removing a clog. I have only ever had to replace 1 heater core in my 15 car life span. And that was only because it leaked.

No It does not leak... It just doesn't work well, fogs up the windshield, and symptoms like that. Is there a good way to do a coolant flush through it when it's in the car?

sure buy some generic heater hose and a fitting that will let you hook up a garden hose to it. disconnect your heater hoses and attach your hose to the heater core and flush with the garden hose both ways. you can use compressed air but be very careful with it. if your windows fogging up try turning on the a/c with the heat
