Swapping my dash and have a question

Im going to be swapping my dash for the one from my parts car and was wondering how I would go about changing over the vin plate up front. I'm not sure if it's even legal for me to do but if anyone has let me know how to do it!

It should just be held in with two rivets. Drill them out and put new pop rivets in.

I am not really sure on the legality, but if the window VIN still matches the chassis VIN, when I would think that nobody will ever care that the rivets are not original.

You not doing anything illegal. You are replacing a part. Some people dont even put the VIN back on, like on S13's and thats just stupid.

So yeah, Just go get some rivets that are close to the same and no one will even notice or care.

Well, technically it's NOT legal at all. You're putting a VIN plate on a vehicle that it didn't come from.

However, if the "new" vehicle in question is the same make, model, generation etc as the old vehicle, then ethically you're fine.

My guess is the old chassis is going to the crusher?

Don't forget about the VIN plates on the strut tower and the emissions sticker on the hood. Plus I think there's a VIN plate on the back somewhere too.

The one in my daily is rough, looks like it has sun damage. I already took the one out of my parts car and its pretty mint so I'm going to toss that in there... if I dont sell it today and buy the other Subaru I was looking at.

That you cant do.

If it's just the dash you are swapping, just take the old VIN plate from the top left corner of the dash board and install on the new part.

Thats it, your done, no funny business going on there and no one will give you any problems. People do that all the time. I have done it many times for S13's when doing a color conversion or replacing a messed up dash.

Yeah I'd never try and swap out all the vins on the car. That can land you in prison, just swapping the dash because the one in it looks like crap.

No need for it at all, the car sold tonight! Onto my next Subaru.. luckily the new one has no rot and is a 5 speed.
