Oh okay nice. Well its going to be due for a timing belt at 105k. Mine is a limited fully loaded..

Check the banjo filter on the turbo. If it's clogged, be prepared for replacing the turbo. It's common for owners not to clean or remove it (many just chuck it) and it clogs up and starves the turbo of oil.

If the oil is changed on time you wont have issues with that...

Buy it! You're buying a rare vehicle now... Subaru all but discontinued the wagon after 2005... the Outback doesn't count because they turned that into a crossover SUV - to take the place of the Tribeca.

You can't buy a real Subaru wagon anymore... only hatchbacks. I know, it sounds like semantics, but even SOA said in a press release a few years back that they were discontinuing the Legacy wagon form. :D

2005-07 legacy wagons are very hard to find. Especially turbos and limited... I got lucky and got my 2005 for a great deal. I could not pass it up....

Going to look at a different one a little later today. The guy was asking a too much for the first one and I got the feeling that it may have some gremlins. Just didn't seem like I wanted to spend my money on it and i convinced my wife if I get one that I should keep my 91 ss as a "project" car. So I am going to look at a auto limited with 91k that is bone stock.

Well I'm picking up a 2005 LGT wagon limited tomorrow. It's bone stock and has had dealer service it's entire life. It's automatic but I don't have any major plans and its going to be my dd so it will be nice.

Get an ECUTek tune on it. It'll really liven up even with the auto trans. Shifts will be crisper.

Is the ECUtek better than the Cobb accessport? I was leaning towards the Cobb due to ease of use and general tuner knowledge around my area but haven't looked at the ECUtek very much either.

Depends on how much tuning you want to do in the longer run - from my poor experience the ECUTek is for drivers who just want to install a couple of mods for driveability (like a new up/down pipe or catback) and then get a tune and be done. It's a one time deal, the tune is flashed to the ECU and that's it. The tunes are more conservative and are tailored for the vehicle (the tuner should do a dyno run and a street run to get the tune right). The Cobb provides you with the ability to retune over and over and to flash back to stock - that's why most modders go that route because it's cheaper as you mod. The Cobb also gets paired with your ECU so it's useless to anyone else unless you "unmarry" it if you sell it.

If you plan your build right, and stick to your goal of a solid DD with a bit of pep, then the ECUtek would be ideal. It's also one way to prevent yourself from modding for more power! ;)

Doesn't non one in your area do Openecu tunes? That's how my wrx swapped leggy is tuned, about 45 minutes of road tuning and highway pulls and my car runs awesome. It was only $150 for me.

Some do and I'm still doing my research on everything. I need to call some shops around here and see what they recommend but I did order a vag com cable to get started.
