Well there is no "trial and error" with brakes. Don't want to screw anything up bc I'm not a mechanic. So I bought some remannd oem on the way home. They look sooooo close though.lol Guess I'm stuck with some 09 leggy calipers. I will put them in the adds later tonight for sale. Sad thing is theres 9k miles on them.

Here I am again replying to my own post.. Im confused.. The brand new ones I bought didn't fit.. So I tried out the 09 caliper, and it fits.. I thought I saw a thread on here stating it would only fit the "non-gt"(after I purchased the 09's). I want to try them out. Wish someone would respond to this.. I'm nervous about trying it out...

Doesn't this say "fits these legacy models"

I'm confused - the brakes that you posted pictures of, the 02 is on the left, the 09 is on the right?

Why do you even want 09 brakes? Are they lighter?

If you needed new brakes, you could easily just buy remanned 02 brakes and be done with it.

Ones on the left I found on craigslist(guy parting out 09 leg 2.5i). Wondered if they would fit bc I'm trying to save some money right now.
On my way home from picking them up I stopped at advanced auto to grab new ones for an 02leg(ones on the right). The actual NEW ones that were suppose to be correct DIDNT fit.
In a fit of rage I tried the 09 ones off craigslist and they fit PERFECT! The pads were almost identical. The 09 pads were the the same shape and size as the 02 leg ones.
I would really like to drive it but I'm nervous to. Thank you for responding!!

If the 09 ones fit, then roll with them.
The "02" ones you bought from Advanced should be returned with the simple reason that they don't fit - if you have your old ones you can take them in to show them the differences.

It's possible that you got front brakes for an 02 Outback - they were slightly bigger than the 02 Legacy IIRC.

I will post a pic later. What could happen if they fail? lol

Worked out good so far. I will keep an eye on it. Hopefully won't have to replace them.

I am guessing someone upgraded the front brakes on your 02 GT to the bigger rotor from a WRX, 10.5 to 11.5 inch which is why the parts store unit didn't fit and the 09 2.5i did.
