I have just installed my 010 cluster in my '03 BH legacy. The main difference I can find between the 010 and other models is that plug B (i11) is a the same style connector on the 010 as the USDM cluster.
I did not create a jumper harness, just re-pinned all the connectors & only had to add a little length to a few wires. I used a combination of "fibuz's" PDF and rkrenicki`s JDM 030 cluster pinout to get almost everything working. The A & C plugs are the exact same as the 030, but the B plug being different is giving me some trouble.
Everything system on the B plug checks out, minus the CEL which will not work.
Signal lights .... good
Coolant temp ... good
Oil Light .... good
Battery light ... good
High Beam .... good
CEL ...... no fucking good.
Here is how I currently have my B (i11) plug wired pinned.
B1 - open
B2 - open
B3 - Tail & Illumination Control Relay (pulled from A6)
B4 - open
B5 - open
B6 - ECM (pulled from B6)
B7 - LH signal GND (pulled from B16)
B8 - open
B9 - oil pressure light (pulled from C13)
B10 - battery light (pulled from C5)
B11 - open
B12 - High beam GND (pulled from B13)
B13 - High beam 12v (pulled from B14)
B14 - RH signal 12v (pulled from B15)
B15 - Coolant Temp (pulled from C8)
B16 - Coolant Temp (pulled from C9)
The 030 pinout says CEL goes to B4 ..... NFG.
The pinout says it goes to B10 ..... NFG & currently occupied by the battery light which works good.
I have tried the CEL wire (Red and White pulled from C12) in all open slots, and even pulled a sensor on the motor to throw a code so it will be on all the time with no luck.
Is there a fuse for the CEL, I have checked drivers kick fuse box and the engine bay fuse box......all the fuses were fine.
Also is there a way to bench test the CEL circuit on the cluster. Any input or advice would be appreciated.

Most of the lights (except for the circuit ones like high beams or turn signals or the Airbag light) are ground triggered. If you ground each pin one at a time, you should find the ping for the light you need.

Actually.. stupid question.. is the bulb burned out for the CEL?

I checked all the bulbs first thing, gotta keep it simple.
As dirrected I just pinned the open B slots out to ground.
B1 = Diff lock
B2 = Steering
B4 = CEL!!!
Now when I plug the CEL wire into it I get no light. On start up or with a sensor pulled. Is there a fuse for this wire somewhere, or maybe something else. What Voltage should I get getting from the wire, maybe it`s broken somewhere along the way.
Thanks,
Ian

Just cleared my code with my scan gauge, intake air temp (self inflicted) but still no CEL on during start up......strange.
Is there a chance this is a cluster is a different OBD style, i assume since it is a 010 it is the first generation of this style cluster.

CEL wire checks out all the way over to the SMJ connector, ground it out and light goes on. Next stop is the ECU connector. Possible ecu fault or an internal fault with the cluster?
I am not to worried about it, since all the other warning systems and lights work, plus the CEL/MIL connector still reads and clears properly. Just annoying and now I can't let it go.

The cluster does not use OBD, it just needs a ground circuit.. nothing fancy. I suppose the CEL line could be doing a +12v activation instead of ground for some reason, but I cannot think of why that would be.

The cluster works great and only one light for the top of the speedo ring is burnt out. Man these clusters are beautiful!!! Such a great mod! I had the drivers airbag off when I snapped the pic, but that system works fine. Once I get the CEL issue sorted it will be perfect.

Yeah it's strange. :-?
If I ground the CEL wire (Red and White pulled from C12) when installed in slot B4 the light comes on. So it is receiving power from the circuit board somewhere and should function if triggered to ground by the ECU, but it's like the ECU is not making it happen.
The worst part is I can't revert and reinstall the OEM cluster without re-pinning everything. I have a '00 Outback parts car, but it's a few hours away. I plan on pulling the cluster and harness's and reverting mine back to stock then building a jumper harness with the left overs.
Any searching I do just brings up your post's from multiple forums, and some japanese stuff that I can't translate. I believe it is a GT-B cluster, now if i had a corresponding service manual I would be set .... maybe.

The halos are done by bulbs in blue sockets with a yellow dot. There are 6 in total, one is behind the CCFL inverter. The closest replacement bulb available in the states is the 2732 bulb. If you are replacing one, you might as well replace all 6.
Make sure you move the other bulbs around for things like the FWD light and whatnot, you can reuse the bulbs for things like Power or Winter Hold..
Oh, the Airbag light is a +12V circuit, if it goes dead (like if the airbag system lost power) then the light comes on. This means it is completely opposite of all other lights.

I saw the light bulb info in your thread I think. I would like to match a few other interior lights to the bright white gauge light, they are so clean looking.

I just finished my morning commute and have found another issue with my 010 cluster. The speedo reads high, going to double check it with my scangauge on the way home. I would guess it is reading 20kph high at 100kph, possibly a tire size issue since i am only running 205/60/15 winters at the moment.
Anyone know the stock tire size on a BH GT-B?

Was your old speedometer a km/h speedo, or a MPH/kmh one?
The ECU should be converting the VSS signal to the proper value. The pulses that the cluster takes is the same for both USDM and JDM markets, but I use an adapter to bring the pulses down to show Miles instead of kilometers.

Both are kph, Canadian car and JDM cluster. Starting to think the cluster might just be messed up internally or is from a incompatible model .

Just hooked up the scangauge and went for a quick blast. The speedo words fine, readings are dead on even x-referenced against my gps, must have been half asleep and overly paranoid looking for faults this morning.

Good to hear!
So, just to recap, it is the same pinout as the 030?

No the pin out is different .... mainly on the B-connector. I am going to get everything sorted this weekend and do up a pin out list that I will fwd to you.
I just downloaded a '03 FSM and it shows that the C5 pin is the CEL/MIL on my version of the H4 combo meter. I have it all back together to DD this week, but as soon as I get a chance I will tear back into it and hopefully sort out the CEL issue and double check everything against my new pin out list.
Cheers,
Ian

The listing you provided for your 010's B connector, matches what I have for the 030.
What fsm did you download? I have not seen a 2003 JDM fsm anywhere on the net...

Keep in mind that '03 in Japan was the BL/BP. So if you downloaded an '03 BE/BH schematic, it wasn't for anything Japanese...

I was reffering to a USDM '03 FSM. It shows that on the '03 H4 USDM cluster some of the systems are pinned differently then the info i was using to do my cluster swap, meening hopefully that the CEL issue i have is because i have pinned the wrong wire into the JDM connector for that system.

I did not catch that, Yama.. hah. Then again, there was the 03 Blitzen..
As for the USDM/CDM Check Engine wire, it should have been on C12, and it is Red with a White stripe. C5 (Black-white) is the alternator light.
If you download the 03 FSM from here, it is quite possible that you downloaded the European/Australian version.
