New maganflow?

I'm daily driving my legacy again and the current exhaust is on the verge of giving me hearing damage, so I'm looking to correct that.

Right now my exhaust is:

OBX EL header > 2.25" busted high flow cat > obx resonator > 18" vibrant resonator (http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1022_1033_1054&products_id=289) > Vibrant turbo muffler (http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1022_1031_1108_1195&products_id=1155)

I knew going in ~2 years ago the muffler was loud but then I built the 2.5 and got rid of the stock cats and it got MUCH louder, I've lived with it till now but it's too much. ( I have to take ear plugs on long trips because of the noise levels. 90+ db )

I'm looking at just replacing the muffler with something quieter but I have no idea what would be best, I'm leaning towards a Magnaflow but am open to other cheap options.

For those with magnaflow mufflers how loud are they ?

I've used the ebay obx oval mufflers on my bro and friends car and its pretty quite. Nice low rumble, then again they have a different setup than yours.

I have UELs, stock cats, and a Magnaflow 10415 installed on my BH and its definitely tolerable. For reference, I have a 100 mile round-trip commute to work and am pretty sensitive to obnoxious noises. IN NO WAY is it Earplug-Worthy :lol:


I'm off for the next 2 days and will try to get some audio clips posted to the exhaust sound thread. I'll PM you when I do so.

edit: PS, it ran me all of like $65 for the muffler (Amazon ftw :D ), and the install was ridiculously cheap at a local exhaust fab shop.

:/ hrmmmare you 2.25" all the way back? I think some of the problem is that you have the TURBO version.

I heard somewhere that the packing blows out of magnaflows eventually? Anyone else heard this?
