View Full Version : Eastern CT Local-ish Meet 2013
I'm going to attempt to form a small meet for members in the eastern CT area. It will be held at Phillip Lauter Park in Willimantic. I'm trying for some time in about a month or two. There's a nice, freshly paved parking lot, two nearby gas stations, a skateboard park, (should any of you care to try that,) For food, there's Applebees, McDonalds, the East Brook Mall, the Farmers' Cow Calfe, and Mama's Pizza. I don't think the beach will be available to use this early in the season, though.
DATE CHOSEN! The meet will take place on Saturday, May 25, starting at 1000 hours and going until... whenever.

it's about 20 miles from Vernon, mostly a straight shot down Rt. 6.

Just drove through the park, with a mind for lowered cars. it's VERY smooth, with only two speed bumps anywhere. And they are rather stanced-freindly. I'll get some pictures up of the area soon.
Leaving there, I saw a first-gen turbo a block away. I think I need to court the owner to the forum before the meet.

I do want to note, If you're only able to go to one meet this year, go to the Rhode Island one. It's better established than this one, (in it's tenth year vs. this one, first year,) and it's definitely going to have more cool cars and cool people.
But, if you can make this one, too, please do!

That's a good question. Since it's not a huge meet bringing in people from all over, it would probably be easy to do it the next weekend if it rains.
I'm starting an attendance list in the first post. Who's coming for sure? Who might be, but isn't sure?

I am really okay with either, but I put the parking garage as it only let me pick one.
So, work prevented me from getting to the college to see about using the garage. I'm pretty much thinking it'll be easier to ask forgiveness than permission, since it's just a few of us and school is not in session.
Everyone should swap numbers just in case. Mine is (860) 208-4855. Hit me up for directions. The entrance is almost directly across from Windham High at 321 High street. Just follow the entrance road into the college and you will see two parking garages. I'll figure out which one and which level, based on the cars there that day so CALL OR TEXT ME WHEN YOU'RE NEAR!

I wasn't gonna be able to make it either way ( family function). Plus I have no running subarus at the moment ( I'm not going in the Sienna). So my vote would be for another day. :/
I'm doing it tomorrow, but Since there are so many people around the area I may try to make it a monthly or every other month event.

Most of the pictures in my MR1 thread are from my HTC Amaze, but it has since been replaced with my Nexus 4 which has a similar quality camera on it.

Yea, the Municipal Parking Lot there. I think the picture of your DL in your Introduction thread was in the lot he is talking about.

I'm still trying to take this day off so I can go... I just have to wait until the 1st of August to put in my day for it.
So, I'm already plotting for next year. There's a yearly camp-out at Lauter Park (my iniyial planned spot) in early June. I thought it might be cool to have the meet that day so people from further away could camp out rather than have to drive a long way there and back the same day.
Camp-out has been $20 the last few years, and includes breakfast.
