So I just put the motor in my 1999 outback its the 2.5. But when j first started the car I didn't notice any noise (I did record the first start) and now when the car is running it sounds like a collapsed lifter. I say this because I got on YouTube to compare noises and it was a 1992 legacy with a collapsed lifter. But I'm not too sure how that would work because I'm fairly certain that those are hydraulic lifters but the 2nd gen had bucket and shim so?

Play by play of what had happened.
Motor dropped in sounded beautiful
Next day big oil leak(valve cover gasket didn't fit well put another it while the motor was in the car pain in my ass)
Put oil back in it topped it off cranked I'm over with no spark
Started it noise appeared on the side I replaced valve cover gasket

I have a video of the first start and current condition on YouTube I'll locate and post the links for you guys to listen

Any input is much appreciated
Ryan
