i just read the post about the squeaky brakes and i guess i am not the only one.

i had a question about the rotor alignment. it seems to be touching one pad but not the other. i havent looked at it a few months since i did my pads. i am getting a squeaking sound from 1 or 2 different positions but it is not a constant rub. it is pulsing based on my speed. at 60MPH it is almost a consistent noise but you can still hear it sputter at a very high rate. i think one or more rotors are at an angle, or even the caliper. im not sure if it is supposed to dead straight or if it ok the way it is. i havent had any braking problems or stearing issues, but and annoying sound at low speeds with the window open.

anybody have any input?

Have you inspected the shims? If they are wrong like most aftermarket caliper are :-( then they will not fit or have terrible clearance.

You need to make sure you scrub the mating surface of your HUB with a wire brush prior to putting the rotor on.

I used to not do this and would always end up with exactly what you are talking about.

Now I take an extra 5-10 minutes and REALLY get after the hub with a nice stiff wire brush to knock off any surface rust, grit ect. before placing the rotor over the Hub.

Havent had an issue since I started doing that.

Can a mod merge my thread with this one being how they're the same issue?

I was thinking maybe a wheel bearing and was going to replace it but I didn't feel any play. I pulled my brakes apart but couldn't get my rotor off without a hammer so I left it on. my ebrake cable was loose so that got tightened and it helped for about a day. if it is the rotor alignment would it happen right away or is it possible to be fine for six months and then start?

To the op. sorry to thread jack but having the same exact issues. idk about you but I'm to the brink of going insane with the issue

not a problem. i actually find it easier to see less threads, its easier to read the same topic on one page than to wait for my damn internet to catch up after i hit the back button.

i kind of figured i wouldnt be the only one, but i did not have the patience to go through 100's of threads from the past to find exactly the same issue. i am still very new to forums, as this is my first and only. as long as i get some answers on where to start (which has been very successful so far) i am golden.

Removed rotor, sanded all the rust off of everything, still squeaks just not as bad

OP, go to advance auto and pick up brake lubricant. I applied it to the following areas:
where the caliper bracket meets the hub
tabs on the brake pads
entire metal clips that the brake pad tabs insert into
between the pad and shim
on the back of the shim

This solved my brake squeak and made me notice that my driver side brake squeaks at low speeds so get all 4 brakes at once

I might have to try that. it has been tolerable since it stopped raining/snowing.

the pads i got didn't come with shims. i have not replaces the caliper, it just might be too rusted. i got the duralast rotors and pads on the rear and just the pads on the front. dont know what the original rotor was.

it was a cheep emergency buy so i went with the cheep ones from autozone. since then i have been doing more research and have found better alternatives. i hate autozone...
