Dyno results

I paid $75 to put on paper my car is slow, but it was exciting. I don't have the print out for the first run, but it was 108 HP 125 TQ it was in 4th and the torque converter may not having been locking up.

These runs were in 3rd gear.
2nd run HP: 117.45 TQ: 118.31
3rd run HP: 116.43 TQ: 119.31

I'm also running rich, I plan on taking care of that in the next few weeks (hopefully)

Maybe I should install two STI engines, 1 for the front and 1 for the rear.

the 2.5L of today doesn't get much better.

It's not the engine, the engine puts out 165HP, it's the drivetrain after that.

Realistically that isn't too bad an output. I would say an A4 quattro would be in the same boat if it had the 1.8 engine. S4's with the mightly 2.7L engine dyno'd under 200hp and people thought those were ultra quick.

Well, they are. Just under 200 whp is not a bad figure at all.

WRXs dyno at about 180, and WRX are not slow by any means.

Those numbers will be with a different motor. I talked to the dyno guy and I will be going back real soon. I have a few more parts to get and looking to dyno at 140 hp at the wheels.

your engine would be expending less energy moving less parts. You'd probably get better dyno readings by running fwd. Probably get the same 0-60 time on the road though.

No, towing mode will net you worse results, chances are. But try it, so we can know for sure! You've already got a baseline.

A guy with an EJ22 put the FWD fuse in and got 88 whp. That sounds awfully low to me...35% drivetrain loss?! Shane got less than 25% loss.

Absolutely. Just don't expect much.

Smoke- if you have the 4EAT, you can put a fuse in a certain spot, and the duty C solenoid (which makes the car AWD) will disengage making it FWD. It's for towing purposes.

I wrote Jonathan yesterday, I should hear something tomorrow. I want to do 2-3 runs AWD then 2-3 runs in FWD. Compare numbers, I think there will be a difference.

I suspect you should see some sort of gain, though I'm not sure to what extent. You will obviously have loss in the rear section of the drivetrain that will not be present in your FWD runs. It will be interesting to see the results.

Yes. But it's not so simple as inserting a fuse.

As Mranlet, he's fully RWD now. Of course, switching back would be a pain.

That's why I don't care if I burn it up. It just needs to last a couple months when I replace it. Also the dyno will be set up for FWD and it won't show any lost in the rear.
