View Full Version : Cylinders are full of fuel. Help?

So I bought a 95 legacy ej22 auto with 160k on the motor. Did an oil change, tune up(plugs, wires, fuel filter).
I then cleaned the engine bay and ended up getting water in my cylinders, so I dried those out and after many attempts of getting it started it finally started right up.
Now what it is doing is while it is running, it is dumping fuel into the cylinders which is causing it to smell of raw fuel out of the exhaust. Thankfully this is not my DD yet.
So I thought it might be the injectors, so I go to take two of the injectors out and when i take them out I see fuel dumping from the fuel rail into the cylinder. So then I run to the fuel pump and unplug it and by this time I ended up getting two cylinders full of fuel to the point the car wont even turn over(I only tried twice).
So Im stuck. Ive read it could be the Fuel Pressure Regulator, but I took the breather hose off of it and there was no gas leaking out. Im very confused.
There is also zero gas in my oil which is good. ;)
Any thoughts or opinions on what it could be?

Weird. For some reason anywhere the word l3gacy should be its replaced with the word accord. So no. I have a 95 L3gacy. Thats confusing

1) if that is the case DO NOT DRIVE OR RUN THE CAR.
YOU CAN HYDRALOCK IT AND BREAK THE ENGINE OR BACKFIRE AND BURN THE CAR TO THE GROUND.

2)its not a fuel preasure regulator. Its a injector is stuck open or a bad oring under the injector.

3) you sound like your in over your head and since this is your firrst post i think u should take your car to a qualified mechanic.Well i can only assume you mean legacy. If not there are a few honda forums out there

Just because this is my first post does not equate me to being over my head. Ive worked in shops as a mechanic and have done full engine swaps. Im just stumped and reached out where I could in the Suby community. Again its not an Accord. Its a L3gacy.

I would say its either Fuel press. regulator or a bad injector or something to do with the injectors

Thats what I was thinking. How would I tell if the fuel pressure reg is bad?

I have never tested one so i have no idea or if there even is a way to test it.

Fuel pressure guage, then put your mouth on the vacuum line if it goes down when you suck and up when you blow. its fine.

But i highly doubt that its the fuel pressure regulator.

You need to isolate which cylinder(s) its happening in.

Yeah for some reason anything thats l e g a c y its replace by accord.

1 it's a April fools joke and 2 an accord with a h22vtec* is what u meant lol. Best thing to do is pull the spark plugs out and let it evaporate (can take quite some time)

Yeah Im glad im not the only one seeing that. Crazy honda guys hacking in. ;) To remove the fuel in the cylinders, I was thinking of pulling all the spark plugs and turning the engine over a few times to push the fuel out. Is that a crazy idea?

You could also pull the plugs and just let the gasoline evaporate. Just don't blow any objects into the cylinders.

its not that crazy. ive done that before. like huffer said, dont drop or blow shit down in there.
