So today I enabled the Power Mode on my 4EAT, and what a difference it makes. I'm sure my gas mileage will suffer but the car is much more responsive and fun to drive while not a replacement for a 5spd it dose keep me from wanting to blow my brains out because my car wont down shift while I'm trying to pass another car on the freeway.

Thanks!

Thanks man, you should stop by Outback Auto some time and see the shop.

I had them on my last legacy and loved them it was the first thing I bought for my Outback when I got it, well worth the $230.00

I got a bunch more stuff ordered and knocked a few items off my to do list.Got a knew head unit ordered Kenwood KDC-X996 In Dash Receiver, I had one of these on my last daily driver and fell in love with it. Great sound qualtiy, looks good, streaming pandora controles, hd radio, the list gos on. Uniden Pro 538W CB radio I got this becaus i thought it would fun for road trips and off road, I got this one because it will fit in the din slot under my new deck and it has a PA so i can yell at people that cut me off. Roof rack, this has been high on my to do list, its the place where my spear tire is going to go,and its where im going to mount my CB antena and offroad lights. Three foot fiberglass CB antena with mount and spring and a 5in pa horn. so in the nex couple of weeks im going to have some stuff to do on the car. The next project once I get paid again is a lift kit and tires, im going to get subtle-solutions 1in kit and add the 3/8 spacers, add some 215/65/16 Yokohama Geolanders and that will give me close to 2" of lift wich I think is a good start. Once all that is done than its time for a snorkel!

Looks good with the rack and antenna!
Did you tune the antenna? You can greatly improve your distance by tuning it and putting the antenna near the middle of the roof will also help!
I like how well that unit fits in below the stereo!

Thanks! I haven't tuned it yet I need to get an S/W meter. as far as the antenna location putting it in the middle of the roof isn't really an option for me, its set up so I can remove the rack and antenna together. With the roof basket acting as the ground plain and the antenna mounted were it is it just means the signal will transmit more toward the front of the car than the rear but once I tune it we will see if I have to make any changes

Ahh, that makes sense! If I remember correctly (its been a few yrs), its going to have a stronger signal to the rear from using the roof as a reflector. Also, ! wouldnt trust the rack is going to give you a good ground reference, but you could run a short ground wire with a spade or bullet connection on it.
Damn it! I havent run a CB since my 24watt Midland was stolen from my truck 4 yrs ago, now you got me thinking about another one! I still got a couple FireSticks and a Wilson whip!

Got my Geolanders installed this morning, so I immediately needed to break them in.
A friend of mine and I found a couple of nice trails off some forestry roads. The Outback did really well and made short work of every thing I thew at it, even some stuff that I wasn't to sure about. I might take another trip tomorrow.

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while, I have a bunch of stuff in the works.
I installed a front skid plate, got an Infinity Basslink subwoofer, ordered the steel for rock-sliders.
I got a lot of stuff ordered today.
Ordered my engine, its a JDM version 7 WRX 2.0 ltr. with avcs.
Brake upgrade, going with slotted 02 WRX rotors SS lines, super blue fluid, and EBC yellow pads. I also have a 14000 lumen LED light bar coming for the roof rack.
I also got the cracked windshield squared away this morning.

That's the plan, plus I was sick and tired of getting my ass handed to me by Geo Metros and the like. Can't wait to actually have enough power to climb hills, also the turbo will be great for higher altitudes.

I'm starting to do more serious offroading so I built the tube bumper last week, now all that's left is the WRX swap. I'm still hoping to have it done for WCSS but its a long shot.

So this is whats been going on with my car the last few weeks, Engine Swap!
Its almost done I'm just waiting for the wiring harness and then I can put the interior back together. After that drive it down to the shop and finish the exhaust and get it tuned.
I had to get the garage all cleaned up and ready. The shop was completely full, and because of a blown head gasket I couldn't wait any longer, so I had to do the swap at home.

First days work we puled the old engine out and put in the STI cross-member, It went in really easy. Also did a little engine bay clean up, The mud pit at WCSS was brutal.

On day two I wanted to get the engine bolted up and the dash pulled out to remove the harness.
Here is the engine just after bolting it in I put the inter-cooler on because it was exiting!

After the harness was puled I could take my time hooking up all the accessory's , hoses and mount the stuff the new engine needed.
AC and alternator hooked up as well as the radiator, This is about the time I discovered that my WRX engine actually came out of a JDM Forester XT which ended up being a good thing. For instance the Forester XT radiator hoses needed no modification to fit perfectly, the power steering lines are a better fit and the longer Skinner inter-cooler works really well with the stock Legacy hood scoop.

You sir work quick and not at all dirty. Well played and I can't wait for vids when it's all finished.
Are you keeping the 4EAT?
Why thank you!
And the answer to your question is yes I will be keeping the 4EAT. I am doing this for several reasons, for off road the 4EAT has a distinct advantage over the 5spd with its true locking center diff. Second the 4EAT is just as strong if not stronger than the legacy 5spd or WRX glass transmission and I have a very large transmission oil cooler installed just in case. Traffic it is still my daily driver and an automatic is better in traffic. Now of coarse all the other stuff is secondary the real reason is the 4.44 gearing and the locking center diff.
That being said who knows if it doesn't drive how I want, it might get a transmission swap too.

I was out of stuff to do on the Outback until Wednesday, seamed like the perfect opportunity to do an interior swap.
Red85Celica was nice enough to sell me this beautiful Outback Limited leather interior for a good price, so between new engine and new interior it should feel like a new car.

Yesterday I got all the engine bay stuff taken care of, so everything under the hood is ready to rock.
I had enough time to do most of the interior stuff too, I'm thinking the car should be running by noon today.
The engine bay is finally done.

Thanks, it will look even better once I'm driving it.
While it been at the shop it's given me an opportunity to finish some stuff I wasn't able to do at home.
I finished the exhaust, nothing fancy just a modified 2004 WRX exhaust, removed the stock front tow hooks and replaced them with welded D rings on the tube bumper. I am also finally installing the the rock sliders.

It's official, the Outback lives!
This week John at Outback Auto finally had time to fix the wiring issue, I finished putting the rest of the car back together today.
Everything went well, the only problem we ran into was a bad idle air control valve. After replacing the faulty IAC valve all that was left was to flash a base map on to the ECU.
The car runs and drives great I'm going to drive it the way it is for a while to make sure nothing breaks. Once I'm satisfied with the reliability I will start installing power adders like exhaust and a dyno tune.
First drive and tank of gas, premium of corse.
