New Rims, what's needed

Picked up a set of 16" Rial Como wheels for $240, trying to find info on what's needed to make these work on my car, if anything is needed.

I'm wondering about rubbing, if that will be an issue. I read on here 37mm O/S is the minimum, but not sure what for. Also the hub bore.. I don't see any info for these. Maybe there's better resources you may have?

You'll only rub depending on the tire size. If you put 205 tires on, you should be fine. The offset is really low though, so the wheelface is going to stick out quite a bit.
You should also get some lug nuts, because your stockers probably won't work on these wheels.

Here's what I found out about the hub bore. Your 97 BG is a 56.4mm HB, so you'll need hubcentric rings.

looks like a 2 1/4" HB, which translates to just under 1mm difference. Should a ring be necessary? Perhaps the tapered edge is not normal, and requiring it to have the rings?

What size tires are those 205/60s? They look rather stock. But the rims are very nice.

They're actually 215/65r16's http://www.bridgestonetire.ca/tire/dueler-ht-687. A bit larger than stock, but it brought down the rpm's at highway speed, which was what I was hoping for! I love the rims, it looks great from looking at the back too, since the rims are a +38mm, it pushes the rims out 10mm more. And with the wider tires, it looks more rugged, for sure! One small rub on the left mudflap bolt head. An easy fix for that will be a flush fastener, perhaps a screw head type.

That wiper was a canadian tire discount bin blade, most of the chrome washed off the first time i washed it. The wiper arm spring was weak, so i thought this would help, but I ended up getting a new wiper arm from the junk yard. It doesnt work like new, but a lot better than what it was! And considering a new wiper arm is over $40, I decided not to splurge on that..

What process did you use to delete the silver off the wheel wells and down to the side molding?? I've been contemplating trying this!

Also, I see you have an auto as well. Have you done the 4EAT Power Mode Mod, by far the easiest & biggest difference you can do!

She was a previous total loss vehicle, whoever got it rebuilt got it painted this way. I do like the looks of it without the wheel wells painted as they normally are.

I havent done any mods to the drive train yet, other than get a new engine. More of a work in progress she is! However, is that the 50/50 power split mod you're talking about?

Yes! It does feel better, but not significant by seat of the pants. But Sunday night I did some runs using the ELM327/TorquePro app.
-Normal mode = 39.5sec 0-60
-Power Mode = 10.9sec 0-60
3 runs each, throttle to the floor & auto shifting

Perhaps your 39.5s time was pushing it to 60mph? :lol:

But someone was talking about an app, which i don't have, but I can assume is easily attained through online purchases.
But I thought you were talking about the transmission lock into the 50/50, vs. the 90/10 or whatever it is now..

are you getting better mileage? or just more power?

Moar power and less gas!!! Lol it's an awesome mod. I did it to my BE, connected with a toggle switch so only I can enjoy the fun and not the wife

I dont feel that the engine is making more power, but the trans is definitely applying the power to the ground much better. The trans is also shifting higher in the rpm range, when 50% or better throttle is used!

Yea sorry I didn't specify but yes it feels like more power from the tranny and not the engine. It's just a way better throttle response. And shifts better too. I love how on the highest I'm doing 65-70mph and want to pass someone real quick, ill peg the pedal to the metal and it'll rocket off with no questions asked. When back to normal it feels like I have to take a number at the DMV and wait about what seems to be an eternity just to get it to even think about downshifting lol.

I usually just have to slam the pedal twice in normal mode to get it to downshift, if i don't do that i can go WOT on overdrive. Seems like normal mode is the "gas" saver mode haha

Yea 39s is actually crazy. Sounds like a 73 beetle maybe would beat that record lol. Unless he was on a incline then I can say yes 39s is precise. On a flat I'd say maybe 15-20s

I dont know where my head was at the time, yes it was on an incline. Sometime soon, I'll redo the runs, since I just flip a switch between Modes its easy to revert back! I also want to do 87 vs 92 comparisons, just for the sake of it!

I was averaging about 12 seconds 0-60mph. Some as low as 11.4 and some as high as 12.3.

I cannot think of any possible way that you could be pulling near 40 second 0-60 runs unless you were not at WOT?

I was going to say as well since I did 13-15 second 0-60 pulls in my 91 Accord EX with stock everything non V-tec and at 260k + Miles on the car, engine, tranny, old worn mostly down tires. and that thing wasn't fast by any means lol. so how steep was this incline then to produce 39.5? had to be quite a bit of a hill.

Well, I've also since learned, with the Torque Pro app and using gps, it may take as lonk as 10 secs. To make sure you are starting the timer correctly! One of these days I will try and make time to get an accurate comparison!
even without numbers you can feel the difference of how the power is applied to the ground at throttle positions more than 50%, in off the line take offs, freeway passes and powering thru sweeping corners! Less than 50% is similar to having the power mode turned off!

I really like the difference! I would agree that you ultimately do get better mileage with this, especially in the city.
