What are the dimensional differences between Outback and Legacy struts and shocks for the BE/BH?

Collapsed/extended length? Spring perch position? Etc..

Found some specs in Monroe's mounting length charts. These don't tell the location of the spring perch, but the travel and length information is there. http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloads/ ... hSheet.pdf (http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloads/english/08_MountingLengthSheet.pdf)

Rear Shocks

'01 Outback rear shock, Monroe 71113 (OESpectrum Shock)

Body length 11.320 in
Compressed length 11.820 in
Extended length 17.740
Travel 5.920

'01 Legacy rear shock, Monroe 71354 (OESpectrum Shock)

Body length 9.750 in
Compressed length 10.375 in
Extended length 13.125
Travel 2.750

The differences (+ means Outback has more)

Body length: +1.57 in
Compressed length: +1.445 in
Extended length: +4.615 in
Travel: +3.17 in

Wow! A lot more than I thought.

Might as well add the fronts in here for reference.

Front Struts

'01 Outback front left strut, Monroe 72243 (OESpectrum Strut)

Strut body length 15.209 in
Compressed length 15.709 in
Extended length 21.614
Travel 5.905

'01 Legacy front left strut, Monroe 71448 (OESpectrum Strut)

Strut body length 13.875 in
Compressed length 14.125 in
Extended length 20.750 in
Travel 6.625 in

The differences (+ means Outback has more)

Strut body length: +1.334 in
Compressed length: +1.584 in
Extended length: +0.864 in
Travel: -0.72 in

Interesting that the Outback has slightly less travel despite the larger strut body. Could this be an error in the catalog? Is anyone running Monroe struts on a Legacy or Outback and can confirm fitment?
