Hello SLI members,

My name is Ian and I'm from central NH https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/05/IMG_2942_zps0094c467-1.jpg

Maine = https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/05/IMG_2865_zps56d331d4-1.jpg

Maybe my favorite part ;) https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/931276_10151453099297017_793932214_n.jpg?dl=1

I drive an 04 Outback Limited with all the bells and whistles, minus the larger engine.

I love working on cars, even with my limited knowledge, and am excited to learn new things and make my Subaru the best it can be! In the summers I work up in Jackman ME as a Whitewater Rafting Guide so my car gets heavily beat up on the dirt roads. I look at my ride as more of a truck than a car and yes, as expected, that has gotten me into some interesting situations. Luckily I've been able to repair most of my mistakes. (but how do you learn?)

No one in my family, aside from my younger brother, has any interest in cars so I'm certainly new to the game. I want to start taking more chances on things I can (possibly) repair or alter in my car and I think that learning from others might be the best way to start.

I'm excited to jump into this new world of Subaru and hopefully I'll start a thread detailing the things I've managed to do to my car.

Current mods:
Exterior:
Various painting/plastic dipping
Cheap Japanese license plate from ebay
Tint (30% rear windows, 20% rear windshield)
Amber delete

Interior:
Shag rug trunk ;)
Suede shift boot (no more plastic!)

Electrical:
DRL disabled
CDE-102 Apline head unit
E12" Alpine sub
300watt amp

Wheels:
2006 Impreza 16" rims, black
Calipers etc: painted glossy black

Future small items for the summer:
Independent fog lights (like, why do these turn off with the high beams!)
New hood (with scoop)
OEM spoiler
Rally Armor mud flaps (why not?)
Custom exhaust system, Lou's

Outback Sedans unite!

DRL disable is really easy on our cars, under the dashboard next to the steering column is a black box with two harness connectors on it, one white and one grey. Just remove the White connector, and you are done!

Outback Sedans unite indeed!!

Love those Crosstrek rims btw, we're thinking about finding a set for my brothers '01 Forester.

And yup! You encouraged me and I ran out and started unplugging things... Successfully!

Best of luck trying to find the XV rims.. Used ones are basically nonexistent, and new ones are.. pricy to say the least (they start at about $320 per wheel right now).

Perhaps in a few years when the XV has been out for a while it will be easier to find used ones. Unless you can find an XV owner who you can convince to get new rims for themselves...
