'98 Legacy GT with turbo?

Hey, so last Tuesday I just got myself my first Subaru, a 98 legacy gt. after many repairs, finally got it running pretty well. just trying to figure out if this particular model has a turbo in it. You see when I accelerate sometimes theres a faint whistle of some sort.

open the hood and you'll see NO turbo.

Yeah.... that whistle come of Legacy's for some reason... If it's a North American car, then no, it's not a turbo.

Unless someone swapped it, but most likely just the typical 2nd gen legacy whistle. My gt had it, my old roommates sus had it too

A stock US 98GT was not a turbo, as others have said. Many have developed an exhaust leak that causes this whistle. Not something I'd ever encountered, but I guess it's common.

If it is a 5sp-it could be the throwout bearing-it drives me nuts and it's common noise as well.
