I would like to share the way I rerouted my bro's GC impreza uel header/exhaust pipe. He had the uel header, stock converters (2), resonator and obx muffler before. He then bought a high flow converter and wanted me to install it. To do this you need multiple mandrel bends (45/90). So instead of wasting money on buying mandrel bends, I decided to reroute the header/exhaust. I'm pretty sure its been done before but I haven't seen it.

Here is the unmodified uel header

Here it is cut, rerouted and welded

As you can see it doesn't require to make a loop from driver to pass then to the center side anymore. Just straight thru

So modified uel header/ high flow converter/ magnaflow resonator to obx muffler (not on pic)

So hopefully you have the proper tools/equipment so you can do it also or know someone that can weld

Will do once he has time from work.

From my butt dyno, the car feels faster since it has less exhaust restriction. It also sounds awesome! I'll try to get some video clip when I have time so you guys can hear it.

This is on a EJ251 full 2.5" piping

I wonder how this changes the exhaust pulse timing... but a more direct route IMHO is always better.

Is that a cat delete or a single hi-flow cat? How much lower did you have to hang the exhaust to make this work? Did you need to relocate any heat shielding to make it work?

Its a single high flow cat. I looked under his car and noticed that his heat shielding was already taken out but you can do it with the heat shielding on, just gotta be creative and move/find the best place to install the converter. Not sure how much lower but I tried to have the piping close to the body as I could. It doesn't rattle or anything. FWIW I did a 3 inch exhaust on my BD and still have the heat shielding. I tucked it in pretty good and I went thru speed bump with no problem.

Anyways here is a crappy vid I made. Don't usually make vids and its on my iphone. Such a noob :smt019 ahahaha

Was gonna make a vid with him doing a couple of pass but we took his car to picknpull with 4 people and went over a bump and knocked out the rear v band. So we were running with no muffler and it was loud ass fuck lol. I just got it fixed and will do a day vid tomorrow with him passing by. The vid don't do it justice. I got my subie friends lining up for me to do it for their cars

Live across the street from an elementary school. I'll take a vid when I get on it but on a better place to do it. Probably out in the boonies or industrial area
