choosing transmission fluid for 99 2.5 gt

so summer is now here and where looking at 90+ degree days here in so cal. ive noticed my car has started to have rough shifting, its most rough after Ive been running the car for some time and its gotten rougher now that the weather has changed. so im assuming its time to change the tranny fluid with something thicker and I would like to know whats the best weight recommended for summer use on my 99 GT (MT)

any suggestions would be most appreciated :grin:

When you say best recommendation for summer use does that mean that you are going to change your tranny fluid twice per year?

i would like to only change it out once but if required then oh well.

Subaru Extra-S. You can get it on special order from the dealer, or if you want, buy the qt from fastwrx.com

Dealer won't sell 1 quart, you also can get it here in RS25 forum. However, I always use Redline fluids in all my cars even better than OEM.

I used Redline. Worked ok, but Extra-S worked better, in all temps (and I live in NE Ohio, so we get 90+ days and -35 days).

unfortunately the only subaru dealer is pretty far from my where im located and driving the car in this weather is annoyingly difficult, so i gotta go somewhere local (autoparts store) i do have some royal purple at home but unsure what the weight is but if redline works better id rather go out and buy me quart. so i assume the tranny only uses a quart?

Iirc tranny 4.2qt and rear diff 0.8qt so 5 qt would be good. Order on Amazon deliver to your door or here for Subaru fluid.
