Has anyone seen the new import tuner (green FRS on the cover)? There's a black 98 GT wagon on the back page that one of the staff is working on. I was like this is great!

He loves the 90's subaru and been a subie fan since he was small. Sadly he didn't know his chasis code. :smt011

Oh come on, how many people here go by VINs or how many people just automatically think BG5 or BE5, etc just because those are the codes for the Japanese models?

Wait, my flat roof NA 2.2L isn't a BG5?!

Okay, yeah. He's just a moron. Ignorance can be fixed (through teaching), but this guy should know better....

To be honest, I sometimes catch myself saying chassis codes because I can, and often does, come off as being way too douchy.

But nothing pisses me off more than the "GC8". The GC was a four door model - the GM6 is the USDM two door 2.5RS. Just saying.

No, the US 2.5RS is a GME. A GM6 is a 1.8L. Look at the "applied model code" on the ID plate.
And the 2 door Imprezas in Japan are GCs too. Look at the WRX typeR. It's a 2 door GC8.

Touche sir. I was using my memory instead of the interwebz so I'll take it. But even still, a GC8 isn't the above all and end all for first gen Imprezas like a huge amount of people would like to believe.

Actually, I don't like using the internet for "knowledge". Too many folks out there spreading stuff like the "BG5" and "GC8" we're talking about. I prefer personal research.

I completely agree with that.
Regarding the personal research I mentioned earlier, here's an ID Plate for a '98 2.5RS (model code is GMEFY7J):

After reading this (article)... He's a noob... No where does that car say "BG5" on it... Thats a BK9, if it has a 2.5... :smt011

I'm about to send a letter in on that one and give them a lesson in Legacy's... :smt021 I have a REAL BG5 in my driveway... :smt019

I read the text carefully. When he says, "The body lines and front end of the BG5 are what Japanese radness is all about" is a true statement ;)

All the more reason why it should be you that sends it, rather than any of us other BG5 owners! Argh, damn it, now he's got me saying it! Doh!

Still, it's awfully nice finally seeing one of OUR cars being given some love in the media. Not just their (Unimprezzive) little brothers.

What? Hey, what's wrong with the Impreza? *whimpers*

Eh, who'm I kidding? I'd choose any Legacy over the Impreza of the same year any day.

We should nominate someone to represent the site and show the world this overlooked gem! Someone with a good example, knowledge and some type/talk skills! Maybe get the zine to feature a car from the site?!

The funny part is that now a days the members rides mag is considered "actually published", since quite a few mags are switching to online only
e-mags

but yea, this guy needs to learn a thing or two about his subaru before he touches it.....oh, too late :smt021

I'm tempted to take a pic side by side with a BK and my BG and send it in.... I forgot how irritated this made me feel! haha
