So I found a RHD postal wagon here in town that's relatively affordable, but like the rest of them it's an Auto, which I can't effing stand. So before I jump into it I'm doing a little research on just what it would take to 5-speed the old girl. Spent a little time hunting around on google but can't find anything about anybody that's actually done it.

What I HAVE found is I can use the following parts off of a USDM/LHD car for sure:

Transmission
Starter
Shifter bits, covers, and linkage
Correct 5 spd ECU to deal with ABS issues (I don't like ABS anyhow, buuuuut)

So, my only real concern is what pedal set and linkage I need to make this stuff happen.

Will a LHD pedal set fit at all with the transmission hump there by where the clutch pedal and linkage would be?

I'm fairly certain cutting and/or welding will be involved and I'm definitely not scared of any of that, just need the information on what parts are necessary to keep all of that to a minimum.

I might be pulling my pedal set in my GT-B soon to fix the annoying squeak it has. It should be the same, bu I'll take some pics just in case.

Any chance you can get me some pictures while it's all together in the car before you take it apart? That way I can compare to the set in my car and go from there.

I'd be darn near forever in your debt

Got these panorama shots of the firewalls of my two cars today. Can anybody find one of a RHD 5-speed to compare?

The obvious differences are the Brake booster, heating/AC lines, and wiper stuff.

Cruise is on the same side

In for more info on this. I just got a postal BG, and I'm in the same boat.

Looks like the LHD and RHD pedal sets mount differently from what I've read. I was going to try and make a JDM WRX pedalset fit, but I'm having trouble finding one.

Have you started the swap yet?

im doing a swap as well on a rhd auto GT-B conversion. you need a RHD pedal set/pedal box/pedal assembly. i say those three different terms because USA, UK and Australia each call it something different. You need to order a RHD pedal set, or at the very least a clutch pedal from either a UK or AU forum or from ebay. Send messages to the sellers to make sure its RHD. Also, the pedals from Legacy's and Impreza's are completely interchangable, so don't worry about that.

Typically they go for about 100 bucks, plus another $100 for shipping overseas. not too bad.

Check it out!
