Id say in the last 6 months ive put about $3000 into my car, and none of it is for mods. Im having bad luck with my engine, in November i had a bad antifreeze leak, so i had to get a new water pump and a new timing belt. that was about $1000. 2 weeks ago i though my engine was going to blow up! It sounded like there was a hole on the engine or exhaust, and there was a clicking noise comin from the engine. Take it to the shop, turns out a keyhole and other stuff is destroyed.....and they tell me its cuz a bolt wasnt tightened when i had the pump and belt changed......its all their fault! that was about $1000 more! Then the knock sensor went....$300 more.......and just yesterday i was overheating, pull over and get out to see antifreeze almost pouring out the engine....take it to the shop, they tell me it was just boiling over the top of the container, but that my thermostat was stuck closedand one of the hoses was about to burst........$150

This engine is burnin a hole in my pocket!!!!!! hopefully ill be straigt for a while now, since i replaced most of the major components in the engine!!!!

EJ257=semi closed deck STi engine.

You could run N/A with it, it would be a very good alternative to your EJ25D.

WAAAIIIITTTT. A minute. You took it back to the same shop? They admitted that the new problem was because the crank bolt wasn't tightened properly? They were the last to touch said bolt? They still charged you? Oh, I'd make one hell of a scene in the shop if I had to, to get them to make it right. If they're saying it's their fault, they should be the ones paying, not you.

Now, if this is two different shops, I'd go back to the first shop and try and get them to pay up for the repair. Either case, start politely that might work. If not, then get a little more demanding. OR, if you have a family member/friend who's a lawyer, if polite doesn't work, have the lawyer send a letter "encouraging" them to pay up.

Edit: Oh, and on engine swaps/serious mods, if you have to ask the $$$ you probably don't wanna know. A full turbo engine swap will likely make what you've spent so far look like pocket change, if you have it done right, at a good shop.

no it was a different shop the first time....i got stuck a far far distance from home and brought it to Firestone....i thought it was a brand name and theyd do good work.....never again! ill just have AAA tow it to my shop from now on...........i brought it to the shop i always use the last few times

and about the lawyer....the owner of the shop i go to....the place that fixed my car, told me to definitely go to them and see if they will pay for it since it was their fault

is that 000,000 or just a typo mark?

I meant 0 miles...but it would be 000 000 on the odometer ;)

As for the firestone deal...it's firestone, what did you expect? :lol:

But seriously, get your money from those douches.

I've put $5k into my BE, between the engine and transmission.

Going to trade it for a 1997 Outback Sport I think.
