P0440 Small leak

alrighty so recently my engine light came on and its p0440
and i have replaced so far:
-new fuel cap
-tested purge valve(one located underneath the hood) still getting resistance
-check filler neck everything is cool
-replaced fuel filter 6 months ago
-check line and hoses for cracks everything is cool

So I would believe it has to be the charcoal canister? or the vent valve beside the charcoal canister?

I recently upgraded my sway bar 2 weeks before the code.
How would i go about testing this vent valve or charcoal canister? Or if anyone has anymore useful input?

that should also be tested with a vacuum pump.

not sure what you mean by you "checked out" the filler neck, but i'm sure you know thats the culprit 9 times out of 10.

Did you plug it back in after you upgraded your swaybar?
I'm not sure you can home test the valve, at least I've never done it at home. A smoke test in diagnostic mode would be my first test. I almost always assume filler tube... that'll weed it out.
As far as the can... if you knocked it while putting the swaybar on, and it failed, it was almost gone anyway. It's kinda like a bad light bulb test to check it. If it's heavy with fuel, or you can actually feel all the charcoal shake around, it's bad.

ive read if you test the purge valve with a multimeter and it shows no resistance then its bad(mine showed resistance(one underneath the hood))..or hook a power source to it and hear a noise of the valve moving....my filler neck isnt rusted at all no rust around the filler neck or cap at all..for the sway bar i never unhooked anything. i haven't shook the canister around yet.. uggg hate p0440 im more leaning canister because i know i must have knocked it wrestling that thing in

None, or infinite; and electrically it's bad. You can also listen for it to click, but it's to quiet to hear while still attached to the car (for me at least).
There's a connector that I've undone back by the sway bar to make putting it in easier, but that was on a newer Subaru. Not putting it back on trips the p0440.

The charcoal can is my bet.. they need to wrap those things in nerf imo.

Charcoal not heavy or makes when sound when I move it..anyother way to test if gone bad?

You can stick your air compressor on either tank or purge pipe on the lowest psi setting, the air should flow freely to the other and the vent pipe.

Crank up the compressor to 45psi and cap off the tank and purge pipe (or put your fingers over the holes) and blow up the vent pipe to clean it. (I tend to leave well enough alone if it's working and just put it back on the car myself)

Looks like you're going to need to have it smoked. I think most shops charge about $100 to go through the whole system. There's other diy ways around it that are cheaper that'll get the job done too... but the $1500 machines + scan tools a shop would use make the headache go away faster. Just call around and ask what kind of evap smoke test they do, I've found the shops that use the fancy machines and the guy that goes around with a bulb vacuum gauge usually charge the same amount, may as well get the fancy test.
