Alright so I have one year left here in Okinawa and after owning my B4 I really want either a USDM BE5 or a USDM BL5 when and if I go back stateside. Of these two cars what parts would you all recommend to take home when I leave? As far as the BE5 I know the taillights, headlights, grills, interiors, and wheels are sought after but what about you BL5 owners what would you recommend taking from JDM land in order to swap over. I have access to junkyards and parts stores that can order aftermarket stuff so throw out some hard pieces to aquire.

If I was you, I would start shipping parts home to sell now. The hard parts a lot of BH/BE guys want are the D-type front ends. The bumpers and hoods are the hard parts to get. also if you can get rear BE glass (sedan's with wipers) those will be gold over here.
Black faced Meter's also seem to be a hot idem as well. You really need Rob and Yamazaki to chime in. Mike will also know more then me since I'm a 2nd gen guy.

Thanks for the input, so the whole rear windshield including the wiper and motor? I'll be able to gather alot in the next year. It sucks though cause Rev D are rarely in the junkyards.

Illuminated door sills.
Also, there are TONS of JDM subaru accessories that we never got over here in the US that you can probably still buy from SOJ over there.

^ Also true...
Even 2nd gen BD rear windows are looked for. I'm looking for one myself. But yeah, if you can get those for all gens, people will love you.
D-type stuff is worth money. Also side markers for 2nd gen, and 3rd gen steering wheels are worth a few bucks.

alright cool, yea if I can find Rev D stuff for even myself that would be awesome, and I can get a ton of 3rd gen steering wheels and there was an untouched 2nd gen rs at the junkyard the other day, I may have to go back and take a second glance.

The rear glass for the BE is universal to all types, so a rear windshield off of an 1998 A-type car would fit a 2002 D-type or any USDM car just fine. I know personally, the rear windshield has been a bit of a pain to get.. after about 6 months of trying, I still do not have one here.
The rear wiper motor is somewhat unique. It is exactly the same as the BH motor except that the shaft is 1cm shorter. For some reason they are not commonly resold, probably because every single JDM BE had one and it is not necessarily a sought after part in Japan. The wiper arms are a nice-to-have, but really anything would work in its place.
I probably would not spend much time on Black Faced Meters unless they are something special like Tommy Kaira or STI clusters. I know that clusters can be had over there for anywhere between 1000¥ and 8000¥, but after the cost of getting them here there is not a whole lot of profit to be made on them. (That is unless you were to fill a container with them and split the shipping cost that way, heh)
Tail lights (quite a bit of profit in these), Steering wheels, D-type hoods/bumpers/headlights/grills, seats, and if at all possible, BE rear windshields would be what I would work on bringing back.

I forgot to mention I'm not looking so much to turn items into profit as much as I'm basically trying to do a JDM conversion to a BE5, that is if I get one I'm trying to get a BL5 if funds allow, but still a BE5 with JDM goodies and a WRX swap is a project I want to tackle one day. So here is what I have collected so far, a set of B4 wheels and tires, RFRB grill, B4 badges, and a headlight leveler switch. I tried my hardest to get a MOMO steering wheel but the junkyard refused to sell me one cause they are required to pop all the airbags, so it looks like I'll have to get one through UpGarage.

We don't have BE5s here in the US. Only BE9 and BEE. I brought over a BES, but I think it's safe to say it's the only one here.
The '5' means 2.0L engine, just so you know.

You might as well strip the tires off those wheels, as they cannot be legally used here in the states.. It will also give you more room/less weight to ship more stuff. (looks like the tires do not match anyways.. seems to have two tread patterns on those)
Do you know what year or type that leveler switch came from? We recently found out that D-type levelers are different from A~C types and you cannot use a switch from one with the headlights from the other. I am not 100% sure, but on the 5 leveler switches I have seen.. the D type have a small white label on the top, and the A~C types have a small white label on one of the sides with a 4 digit code.
As for the steering wheel.. can they just remove the bomb from it instead of actually inflating (and destroying) the bag? You need to remove the module in order to remove the wheel anyways, and with the module off the bomb comes off with 4 nuts.

Just throwing this out there, I'm definitely in the market for a rear windshield and wiper motor for a BE. I also need the clearest set of B4 D-type headlights available, but I'm not going to straight up request it. If they show up in the US though, and they are a great price, I'll hit you up.

I just posted a couple pairs in the ebay classifieds.

They're each well over $300 shipped. That is a bit high for those headlights unfortunately.

@YamazakiSubaru ah ok, I got ya. I'm just so used to seeing BE5 when looking for parts here it's been drilled into my skull  Thanks for the info.
@rkrenicki yea I plan to lose the tires it is just another project for another day, and yea the leveler switch came off a A-C type, and with the language barrier it'd be hard to tell them my intentions by removing the bomb, I even tried telling him I wasn't gonna use it here but I was going to take it to the States and he just stared at me  but the UpGarage here has em for like $30 which is isn't bad to avoid the hassle.
@amgarrety I have no clue if the military shipping systems here will ship windshields due to the easy breaking potential but I'll ask a friend who works with them if it is possible as far as D type lights go, If I come across some at a junkyard I'll pick em up, they are relatively hard to find here/expensive since most junked B4's are A-C types so there are very few D type parts goin around but I'll look.

I'll step up and make a straight up request! I REALLY need a 5MT pedal set out of a second gen. Let me know if there is anyway you can help me out, trying to convert a Postal wagon to 5MT
Not really a request, but if you run across any steering wheels that didn't come with an airbag (early Imprezas and possibly 1st & early 2nd gen legacies?) that look nice, I would be interested...
