Options for a new Clutch

Sooner or later I'm going to replace the clutch in my BK, but I'm not really sure on what brand to buy. I know Excedy is a great company, but I don't want a clutch that is quick to release. I'm going to be teaching some close friends how to drive manual before I swap the clutch, so I'll def need it. lol

I had a Exedy OEM replacment in my 240sx and just put a Exedy OEM replacement in my Legacy and really liked both alot. Better grab and feeling over stock is definitely noticeable.

I personally prefer the OEM subaru clutch for my daily driver. Unfortunately I can never justify spending that kind of money on JUST stock, the OEM Exedy one (Part Number: 15010 (http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/Clutch_Specifications)) is what I think almost everyone swaps to for basic replacement. My guess is if it's ever been replaced, it already has this in it.

Almost every application I've seen Exedy make a performance clutch for they will also have a OEM replacement version.

Exedy makes the Subaru clutches, IIRC, so their OEM one may not be much different than the actual Subaru OEM ones.

^You are correct. Exedy (Daikin) is the OEM supplier to mostly all Asian imports.

Amazon has it shipped for $153 ;)

Just to let you know I will also be going wit Exedy OEM clutch I am actually just about to order it this week now that I have strung my last clutch out long enough that I have some extra money so it wont hit me so hard. and the $153 price on amazon is definitely among the lowest prices i have seen for it and the reviews are spectacular. there are only 2 bad reviews on amazon to which one said he have it a low rating because it wasn't good for his off road rig but would probably be really nice in a daily driver, the other was to draw attention to the fact that he was sent the wrong clutch and it did not fit properly, but had said he had exedy OEM clutches in the past and had no problems with them at all.

edit: this is the one I will be purchasing but unless ur brighton has a 2.5 this wont fit as I believe this clutch is only for the 2.5 L application. but just to give u a look and hopefully u can find ur application easily from here.

The 2.2L and 2.5L clutches in similar model years are usually the same thing, but newer Subarus do have a different part #.

According to exedy's parts catalog, your car would take the KSB04 (the one both you and I linked). The 98 Legacy, both 2.2 & 2.5L take the 15015. Always check the parts catalog with the manufacturer to be sure.

yeah i said that because I checked the outback 2.5 (before i realized his was a brighton) for his year and it said it fit but not for the 2.2 but again that is amazon so like u said catalog better.

he has a link in his signature to his 96 bk, he just didnt change the color to blue like I did but if u click on his 96 bk "Charlotte" under current vehicles it will take u to his member rides page for it which lists it as a Brighton. thats where I got it from. I didn't think there was a link either until I tried clicking on it just to see.
