Today we went to look at a 2002 wrx wagon. It is owned by an enthusiast in the area so it has some mods. It has a new transmission and an exhaust, small other mods here and there. The body has definitey seen better days as well as the engine and everything underneath due to rust. Thankfully almost everything is replaceably so the car has some potential. With over 200k on the clock its a little sketchy but the owner was cool and never beat on it, he's owned the car since he bought it brand new. Unfortunately for us the car didn't start but I scanned for errors the got the codes below. The second and third error were from the maf which I had removed to check the spark plugs. He got a new crank position sensor coming on Monday in which case were going back up and probably buying the car.

And before anyone says it I am aware that mine would have worked but I didn't want to chance the car having a short and killing my sensor as well so it'll wait til Monday. If we bring it home ill begin a build thread for it. If we don't get it than I'm still happy I got to help out a fellow enthusiast get his car running.

dude your crazy. I wouldve pulled those codes, looked at the rust, vomited in the passenger seat and pealed out of the driveway in approximately 2 seconds.

props to you for being a good dude and mechanically inclined.

Lmao I caused two of those codes by pulling the maf sensor off so I could see how the spark plugs looked. The owner bought a new crankshaft position sensor that'll be going on tomorrow and it should start.

I mean, I could have easily been a douche and said "well you got three codes on this non-running engine and ill give you $1,000 for it" but I'm not that kind of person. He was definitely happy we figured out the cause of the issue and for that I think I have first dibs on the car.
