misfire issue

Alright guys i've been having problems with my car recently.

car: 96 subaru legacy L, 2.2 ej22 , engine has 136k


The cel comes on and off and whenever i get on the highway and hit 65 mph i feel that the engine is
misfiring. it doesn't bog or anything it makes a throaty sound (misfire).

Autozone said that cylinder 4 was the problem and that i needed a knock sensor and tune up.

I've replaced the knock sensor (old one had a slight crack) and while replacing the spark plugs and wires i noticed that the front spark plug on the drivers side (closer to the battery) had oil on it.

im guessing im prob gonna have to replace the rings or something? what other thing do you guys think it could be?

the cel is still on and it still misfires on the highway at 65 mph, especially when the a/c is on

Well there's UR problem right there. U have oil on UR spark plug. U need to buy valve cover gaskets and make sure they come with spark plug tube seals. Apparently one of UR seals now are cracked and is pissing oil onto UR plug giving u a misfire on that cylinder. Buy new plugs and a valve cover gasket and u should be good

Yeah, if there's oil on the plug/boot or in the spark plug valley, it's your valve cover gaskets.

i can't remember what the code was, i'll get it scanned again and post it. I sure hope its just the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals. Im going to get them this weekend and install them.

After some research though i noticed that tubes spark plug tubes don't penetrate the valve cover. They are just above the valve cover. like this: http://www.torontojdm.com/images//ii_1310.jpeg (how am i supposed to get to the spark plug tube seals?)

Take the valve cover off and flip it around xD
