photo of when i did the tail swap. the usdm bulb housings dont exactly have the same "insert and twist clockwise" pattern that the JDM tails do. (i kept usdm bulbs and wiring and just did garnish swap) I had to cut one tab off i think with a razor to get american bulb housing to fit in japanese lights.

My plastic trim was looking a little faded and gross and i wanted to make it shiny and black again so I repainted with this Bumper and Trim Spray product from Home Depot.

Took about four hours. Its all in the prep.

I washed the car.

Then I did a serious masking job (paranoid of overspray)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/08/9439157848_8d88e6c178_c-1.jpg

then i used crud-cutter on a rag to clean plastic bits

then i used 100 grit? wet sand paper to smooth it out. let it dry and clean it again

then I went to town with the spray can. three progressively heavier coats, 20 minutes apart (basically alternating sides)

dont forget the tape wad in the key hole!

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/08/9436377701_8db633be49_c-1.jpg

turned out pretty spiffy

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/08/9439156916_bbf8f77da6_c-1.jpg

that Home Depot Trim spray is pretty dang close to OEM I think

im sitting on a pair of jdm sidemarker lights right now. but the wiring part intimidates the shit out of me lol

next up i should prolly shell out for the clear jdm corner lights but its expensive... plus my sidemarkers are amber?

maybe somebody can answer?

are my USDM Corner Tail Light Turn Signals an amber bulb or clear bulb with amber plastic?

thanks for the interest.

They are clear 1157 bulbs, but if you put amber 1157 bulbs in, it gives a darker amber look to it. You can also put a 2057 or 2357, bulb in. Both have higher output brake ckt. There is always a chance that this could pop a fuse, so be ready for it. If that happens, go 1 step down in bulb or back to the 1157... DO NOT put a higher rated fuse in! I personally have NOT done this on my Subi yet, but I have to all the other vehicles I've owned without an issue, but I have heard that some have had issue in some vehicles. One reason could be a loose or corroded ground, if you want test that theory, replace with the factory rated fuse, clean & grease all grounds in the tailgate area and see if it blows again!

Another bulb upgrade that can be done, it the EIKO 50watt halogen reverse light bulb (1156). I have done this on mine without issue! Just be aware, they produce more light and thereby more heat, dont sit for 5 minutes with your reverse lights on!

I loved the Toyo TPT's but i was gonna have a blowout soon from sidewall deterioration if i didnt do something

the guy i bought them from had a real aggressive stance on his wrx so they had to go.

these are 205/60/16's . the toyos were 205/55/16 (wrx suspension)

kinda cool to rock a taller tire than a wrx would be comfortable with. legacy ftw

whatchu think?

also has this weird lever on the right side of driver seat near elbow which i believe is for lumbar support because it changes something inside the seat.

The L seats were the lowest. The GT seats, even at the lowest setting, were slightly higher. RS seats are probably an inch or two higher than the L seats.

(currently its wired through my Brights, so i just hit my brights to turn on the headlights, if its not nighttime i run the fogs, the parking signal lights are always on.) This is a cheapo HUD display that plugs into your ODBII ports. It projects your speed (KMs)in shiny blue LED's onto your windshield at night. It also has a tach and mpg function. It can also be set to blare annoyingly if you exceed the speed limit.

Leather wood grain steering wheel from an 04/ll Bean H6. I scored this from Alphius (Gabe) a while back. Its beautiful and grips great, one of my favorite mods. I even reconditioned the leather and let it soak for 24 hours.

Threw the 04/05 Red momo bag in there for looks (it doesnt plug in and i didnt feel confident re-wiring and explosive charge bwhaha)

I also installed a later model outback dash cluster that had been modded by a member on here. It has super bright white LEDS and red needles for an extra 5 Hp :)

overall, with the red wrx mats and various black/woodgrain accents the car blends nicely I think.

oh and i think you can see the bluetooth Mic for the doube din stereo.
