So I got Ebay intake #2 the one w/ 3 valves.
To start I have a 99 L Anniversary Edition its a 2.2L w/ single port heads. First off the Ebay intake DOES NOT fit this model!! The hoses are too narrow and the adapter is too small. So I wasted $35. I cant get a performance mod for this effin car. So what is next? Maybe I will just DD this until its day comes.

99 is MAP intake, so same mods as 99 Impreza RS...

if you are talking about the valve hoses then you can get adaptors to make them fit... they really arent as crucial as fitting the intake to the engine.

isn't the impreza RS a 2.5L DOHC my airbox looks like a cross between a BD/BE
I'll try to get pics. I can say my top mount air box has a 2.5" opening

Ok, first, the hoses are going to be small, muscle them on, or get some larger vacuum hoses and clamp them down. I muscled mine on. When you say adapter, what adapter are you talking about? The one that goes from the throttle body to the intake? The one I bought was tapered so the 3" side fit the intake the throttle body side was smaller.

the intake side is 3"ish the TB side is 2.5"ish but my TB is exactly the same OD unfortunatly I can't find a 2.5" coupler at any of the hardware stores(4 of them)
So I hacked the coupler to make it sort of fit. the hoses are not even close they are very rigid and way too small no muscling them on. It appears I have a "Phase II" 2.2L engine. Like my post says WTF is up with that? Did I mention that I suck at life?

Its alright, you'll make it work. They're called modifications because alot of times you have to modify them.

for the most part. the MAP sensor pokes into a KO next to the TB
I also have another sensor that mounts to the strut mount area. any idea what that is? What kind of piping is that you have?

Ganzflow. No idea on diameter. You can see I have an el-cheapo reducer cone on the actual airbox.
I did use a long extension length of Samco hose between the elbow bend and the main pipe.

99 is MAP intake, so same mods as 99 Impreza RS...WRONG !!!
Like most 1999 2.5 litre Subaru products the Impresa RS is a Phase II SOHC MAP intake. In the US, the 1999 Legacy is not much different from the 1997 and 1998 Legacys. These years use the DOHC Phase I engine. I believe it uses the MAF intake.
Other countries introduced the 3rd generation Legacy in 1999, whilst in the US, the US built Legacys continued mostly unchanged for another year.

i bought the ebay intake as well, its a hassle but with the right adapters and time you can make it work. I had to get a T fitment to connect all of the hoses.

You're right, but you're also WRONG!!!!
There are many 99 Legacies that came with the DOHC Phase I - but there are also many that were built with the SOHC Phase II.
The DOHC ones use MAF, the SOHC use the MAP intake, therefore similar to the RS.
The fact that vorhees (original poster) cites that his engine bay looks very similar to the pic I posted, which is of a 1999 Impreza GF8, proves this.
Also, I just helped fit a fuel filter for a 99 Legacy wagon last week, and it had a MAP intake.
