Well I just had a fun filled day today. While sane folks were at the beach, having a barbecue, etc, I'm in the driveway installing the Morettes in my '99 Legacy wagon. Contrary to what some folks have encountered, mine fit in just fine, only needing a little fiddling around to get them in place. Awful tight fit on the driver side against the battery, but it's in there. The big thing that took so much time was the fact I made my own harness for them, using relays for both the low and high beams, whereas the Morette harness just uses one relay for the high beams, and relies on the stock wiring for the low beams. I figured since I just spent 6 bills for head lights, I wanted them to have killer wiring to run them. The lights have 12 gauge wiring on the positive side, and each side has it's own ground at the battery using 10 gauge wires. The city lights are configured as my parking lights, and the turn lamps are configured as turn only. Taking the place of what used to be the front/side parking lights will be a set of JDM fender marker lights I just won on E-bay tonight. Since I could not find a 9007 female plug, I went ahead and lopped off the factory headlight plug on the car, and in it's place I installed a 3 conductor weatherpack plug set. I used the same type of plug for the pigtails I used for the city and turn lights, and went ahead and tapped each side of the pigtails and installed 2 conductor weatherpack plugs so that my side markers will have a ready made power supply. Took 9 hours to do everything, but I could have saved 2 hours I spent chaising parts, had I had all the little rubber seals on hand for the weatherpack plugs. Can't wait for it to get dark tonight now.....;-) If you'd like to know anything about my install, please feel free to ask!
