Rear Coilover Top Hats

Hey everyone,

I'm needing to change the top hats on my rear coil overs. I won't get into details, but it's what I need to do. I'm in need of tips and advice. Which would be the best choice? Any advice for removing and re-installing the top hats on coils? Thanks in advance!

Its the same as any strut assembly. Its better if you have an impact gun to loosen the strut bolt. Depending how you preloaded your coil springs but the easiest would be to jack up the car, put it on stands and remove the wheels. Then disconnect your sway bar endlink. Then go inside and use an impact gun to loosen the strut bolt (19mm i think). Make sure to keep tabs on where the 2 spherical bearing goes. Then slowly push the stut down (it'll still be bolted to the knuckle. You should be able to unbolt the 3 nuts and slide the tophat out of the way and swap it with the one your replacing. Reverse the step. Luckily you have a wagon which have hella room to do this compare to the sedan

This is for coilovers only!!! Specifically the ones thats preloaded by hand. Not the one where it needs a spring compressor to install. I just did this to my bd when i replaced the top rubber gasket on the coil. This also save your alignment settings so you dont need to get it realign. Hope that helps
