Hey guys,

I'm new to this whole forum thing but here's my newbie question. I found a good deal on 4 rims from a 2000 subaru legacy. They come with tires. Would these rims fit on my 99 legacy l model? The 2000 tires are 5x100 and 17x5. Feel free to educate me. I don't know much about rims.
Thanks.

Yes they will. I actually took the wheels off my 04 and put them on my 99 for a little bit.

Only thing that may make a difference is your ride height on your car. My 99 is the SUS sedan, so it sits higher than my 04. And made the tires look funny. lol

Thanks for the response and sweet that 's what i like to hear! do i need to worry about the wheels rubbing against my wheel well? The stock wheels on my sub are 15s.

Your car is a 5x100 hub. I think from at least 1989-present will work. '05 STi and up are 5x114 though and will not fit.

Subaru rims since 1993 that will not work with 5x100 hubs:
05+ STi (5x114.3)
Any year Tribeca (5x114.3)
Any year SVX (5x114.3)

All other Legacy, Impreza, Forester, Baja, Outback, etc rims will work. There's a ton of good OEM wheels to choose from, too. I'm running old Forester S Premium wheels on my '03 Forester (see avatar).

^ I knew I was missing a couple... haha

I'm running a set of 05 GT's on my 98 Legacy. Everyone mixes it up a bit.

They still made the loyale in 93 and 94, with the 4x140 pattern, as well as the 4x100 wheels in the justy.

Fine, any EJ series, like all of the models I listed.

I would think that people would notice that 4 bolt pattern, and nobody wants to buy 14" wheels anyways.

I have a 99 legacy sedan L and I am running 2004 WRX 16" stockers with no issues.

Interestingly enough, the 07 FXT stock 16" wheels barely rub in the rear because they are 215/60/16 tires where as the WRX stocks are 205/55/16

So I guess it not only depends on the wheel but also which tires are on the wheels.

Foresters are lifted, so they have bigger tires. If you lifted your suspension to Forester height, I'd bet your tires would stop rubbing.

Thanks for the answers guys! I got the rims and tires. The 17s fit my car and working out!(they look so much better than the stock rims) I will post some pics later. Buuutttt the one problem that I am facing is, ever since I put them on I can hear the tires hum when I drive at low speeds. Is that normal for wider tires? I feel like it wouldn't be a wheel bearing problem because it didn't happen with the old rims and tires..

It's more likely because of the tire type/brand than it's size. Tires also tend to get noisier as they get more worn, especially performance tires.

Wheel bearing problems don't tend to happen suddenly, but if you're concerned, put your old ones back on to check. It's likely the tires.

It's starting to get loud. I hope it's the tires. Another dumb question. How in the world do i upload a picture on here? There's the "img" option but im not posting a url pic.

When I wrote this, I primarily used photobucket, but I would really recommend using www.imgur.com (http://www.imgur.com). A lot fewer hoops & annoyances to deal with vs. Photobucket.

The 17's will be louder then smaller ones. You have more tire on the ground and also depending on the tread, they can make more or less noise.

There's also less rubber between the pavement and the wheel (presumably, if you're running a stockish size), leading to less absorption. Not sure if that makes a HUGE difference, probably not as much as the type of tire or the amount of tread.

I took it to sears today and i guess my tires are feathered. He said it's not a big deal and that i will just have to deal with the noise.
