I did a search but couldnt really find anything and also looked around but still nothing caught my eye but a friend of mine is interested in the 00-04 leg and I was wondering what issues if any come with this gen or car.

Thanks and if there is a post up of this already pleaes refer me to it.

I have not had any issues in the past year of owning mine. Only thing is, it appears the OE brakes don't last long, but I have heard that about all Scoobs. Possibly the front wheels bearings due to the wieght of the cars? Only reason I say is becuase that issues was with the SVX and I think one of mine is going soon...

Its slow and most are autos..

Overall I have had no problems and like the car a lot. Good choice IMO, if that's what they want of course.

Only issue is that it's HEAVY. And JDMifying it is harder because of the numerous subtle revisions.

The ride and noise insulation (stock) is better than BD, and the interior trim is finished a little better. I feel there is more driver room in the BD's though. More options available on the BE's.

I think the headlight output is better, it disperses better. The rear suspension has given some people modification grief though.

If he's looking for something to mod I hope he has lots and lots of money.
Parts are hard to find unless you have them shipped from oversea's.

Other than that I love my BE. Not a lot of then around here so no one knows what it is.

Well my freind, SHE likes the looks of them and she is really picky about cars she likes. She knows nothing about cars so I dont think there would be any moding going on except when she calls me for info on how to do something.

Yeah I have noticed that its hard to find them in a 5mt, why is that?

So there are no engine issues, ie HG or anything of that nature.

I think Subaru was trying to appeal to an older crowd(no offence). That's why they got rid of the hood scoop and made more 4eat's.

autos have always been more popular here in America, that's all.

The 00-02 BE/BHs have had some cooling issues. Both Fibuz and DLC (from Nasioc) have reported problems with coolant being in places it shouldn't and clogged radiators. But it seems to be a fairly uncommon thing. The Headgaskets shouldn't go bad unless she overheats the car. Subaru has coolant conditioner as an added precaution.

No problems here, 'cept for a lazy slush box and not enough power (though my last cars had 227 and 300 hp respectively, so its just a matter of what I got use to  ). Oh ya, and the dual sunroofs in the wagons have a tendency to jam and break - both of our cars have sunroof issues.
