View Full Version : Is this exhaust manifold gasket toast???

They have only been on the car for maybe 1000 miles.

They are Victor/Reinz brand from autozone and they come with a 1 year warranty from Autozone.

Would this indicate a failed gasket or maybe improper torque on the exhaust studs and bolts?

No, it's fine. Go get some Copper High Temp sealer and re-use it. I do it all the time with gaskets that are much worse.

Thats a sign of exhaust leak. The black part on the gasket was most likely on the exhaust manifold side. Take a sanding block and sand the mating surface to make it even

^ That is what I was thinking as well... It's as if there was something keeping it from seating correctly.

I hit the manifold side with a steel wire brush prior to installing last time but I will take a sanding block to it just to be sure.
