2001 Legacy Gt Heats Up Too Fast?

So, I have owned my LGT for awhile now. I have began to realize that the temp gauge begins to rise very quickly. After only 3 Minutes of driving, the car's gauge is already at a little over halfway. This happens whether I begin to drive while the temp is all the way a cold, and if I let it warm up for a couple of minutes. It never has gone above a certain point, and it never rapidly spikes. Just trying to get some ideas of what it could be.

This may seem like a dumb question... Have you checked the radiator fluid lately?

I'd guess either bad coolant or a bad thermostat
