2nd & 3rd gen seat rail differences

Basically, my question is, are there any differences? Other than needing one less bolt for the third-gens, I've noticed that they are significantly taller. Is this height due to the construction, or the rails?

I think the 3rd gen rails end up putting the seat a bit taller because the way the chassis is designed
I have a 2nd gen seat as my front passenger seat and it feels about normal height.

I want to say it does deal with construction, wrx seats, legacy seats 00+ all sit up higher due to the chassis change. I have had wrx seats which damn near touched the roof, tried 05 seats and although lower they were taller than stock and even my recaros with low rails came out to the same height but the seat sat lower natually.
