Planning and Prep for 2014 SL-i MD meet

Hello lego fans,

Just wanted to open up a post to anyone who is interested in helping with planning next year's Spring MD meet. I was thinking around the end of March or early month of April. More then likely we'll stay at the same spot so Yama can bring the S401, Imprezaab, and the wifes B4 Outback. Let's start the planning!

The sooner a date can be nailed down the better for me and airfare.

If by chance it at all makes sense, I MIGHT drive, or somehow, transport the GT-B of the BD. However, this is more then likely not going to be possible, but I'll try. :smile:

I'd like it to be late March/early April. We were in such a hurry to have the last meet, that we didn't consider the weather (remember, we originally wanted to do December or something like that? In retrospect, that was crazy).

I am also planning to go back home to San Diego in February or early March, so that's another reason I don't recommend that timeframe.

Even with it being a little cold, the weather really could have been much much worse last time. It is too bad that Sunday was so much better.. haha

I am good with really any of the aforementioned timeframes.

I am game....It was nice seeing the cars last time and meeting some awesome people too. The weather did stink for people but was OK Subaru weather.

I don't know, that was a pretty good spot and really close. The only way it could be closer is in the parking lot at the Mall, but parking would suck on the weekend and grilling would be out (but there is the food court). Or the closest would be the parking lot at the college, but then there's no grilling or refreshments of any kind.

I think Centennial Park is fine.

Oh hey, I guess I should participate in this discussion a bit. The location doesn't matter to me at all, since I'll have a moderate drive either way. I do like last year's spot though, my only problem with it being the number of parking spots. Maybe there is a way around that.

Also, I completely agree with having it a bit later than last year. Just make sure we don't have to reserve those pavilions or it could get expensive quick. I forget which months reservations are required.

Well, I know Rob is planning on going, and Younginz might be, so I have two potential rides down, if I don't drive myself. So, to start pinching pennies now. LOL

Hey, anyone know of any cheap camp sites near the meet area? I might be able to justify the trip a bit more if I can find somewhere I could just throw a sleeping bag down in the back of my wagon. I've been meaning to go "in-car camping" since I got my first BK.

32.50/night for 2 people, just tents with no hookups. 2 night minimum on weekends. Even so, cheaper than a motel, I think.

Found that as long as we go before April 1st, we should be fine with using the pavilions without renting:

"The pavilion rental season runs from April 1 through Nov. 30, rain or shine (there are no refunds for inclement weather)."
