So about 2 months ago I bought a second 97 L, owner had "no use for it anymore" and it had been sitting parked since sometime in early '11. Bought it without driving it, just heard it run. Was rough had a cel which ended up being a baf maf and knock sensor. Got those fixed no problem, had a maf in my basement and ordered a knock sensor from ebay for $9 then I noticed the fwd light was on, pulled the fuse, damnit, torque bind. Original plan was to give the wife an awd car to drive for the winter since her normal car is strictly fwd. But with the trans issue I don't want her, or my 3 year old step son to be in it.

At this point I began swapping bits and pieces between this car and mine, Giving mine the best of course. Got a keyless entry, oe fog light wiring, dash, and 3 out of 4 door panels. For what I've got from it to better my car I'm really out no money compared to junkyard pricing. But I'd like to try to make a small profit anyways.

Car has some rust issues on the rear quarters and on the deck lid. Pictures below. Has 216k, so I guess I'm asking what would you guys consider a fair asking price for this car?

If you fix up the quarter panel rust, I'd say $1500; if not, $1000-1200 would probably do net you a sale.

I would say drive it till it dies. A car will drive with TQ bind issues for a long time. Also, you could try and get some Lube Guard and do a trans service and it might help.

My BD has had a little TQ bind for the last 3 ish years. I still drive it daily. They really only have a bind problem when when turning. I say drive it till it dies. Could last years... :smt023

Other wise... Over here, that car is worth scrap price, $400-500... Maybe different on the east coast.

I've been debating changing out the fluid a few times to see if it makes any difference. I've had TB in a 98 before and that helped it out, but this is much worse than I've experienced. The day I drove it to work to get it inspected it also seemed like its got an axle on its way out.

But realistically for what I paid for it, $300 btw, I can afford to ride it and keep my nice bd, nice.

It'd be nice to have a little extra coin with Christmas coming though. lol

Leave it as a summer car to keep miles off the nicer ones. Good for picking up messy things like junkyard runs.
