Interchangeability of spark plug wires?

Hey guys!! Been hunting down some information on interchangeability of spark plug wires from different motors and different phases, specifically 96-99 legacys.
Most of my research has proven worthless but maybe you guys can lend me a hand of knowledge

So here's my dellema:
I have a 96 legacy Brighton with the standard 2.2l, I am going to install an msd coil from a neon. Which seam like a good upgrade. And seams to be a favorite here. In doing so I understand that my phase 1 wires are no good and with many options I have chosen to just purchase some.
Particularly nology hot wires, now nology only makes wires for certain motors for certain models of subarus, unfortunelty they done make a set that I can find for 2.2 phase 2,

So my question:
can wires from any of the 2.5's or impreza 2.2's work to achieve what I'm wanting to do? I'm still uncertain on which motors have the round plugs or oval, so all help would be appreciated.

You don't need phase 2 ej22 plug wires, you need 97/98 ej22 wires for this swap.

The phase 2 ej22 is 99 only in the legacy, and 99-01 in the impreza, and the wires don't fit the same on the heads.

Okay...I guess my main question still stands. What wires can I use from nology since they only make wires for the 95-97 impreza 2.2, 93-94 legacy 2.2, or the 97-98 legacy gt 2.5?

Don't get the gt wires or any wires for the dohc ones.

Like 86bratman says you need one from the 97/98 impreza. Reason being is that the previous years uses a different coils and i think the neon coils resemble more of the 97-98 plug wires. Its hard to tell because nology uses just a generic picture to see if its the right one.

My suggestion would be to get the ngk wires for it and do the grounding mod, this would probably more beneficial than the expensive nology wires.

Okay thanks, that actually makes sense now, as far as cost I'm not concerned with but was more interested in a better spark, since the wires themselves are grounded with capacitors I believe, that plus msd is going to give me the best spark. Not looking to build a race car, but a stronger spark will increase my mpg.

Now the grounding mod? How does that help? And will that provide the same results as what nology wires claim? Just curious.

All I know for sure is that subarus are very particular about their plug wires, I wouldn't personally run anything but oem or ngk on my cars.

NGK is inexpensive, and they make the OEM stuff, so definitely go with them.

The grounding mod can help decrease voltage drop in various systems around the car. It may not help spark, but it can help prevent the "dimming" under load for the electrical system. I personally noticed less of a "click" and slowdown of engine RPMs when the A/C kicked in after doing this mod. Perhaps the alternator didn't have to work as hard which made the parasitic loss less? I don't know for sure, but the headlights sure dimmed a lot less.

Okay guys, that's again for the info, I acctually got ahold of someone from nology and they told me to use this Part # 011 564 011, this will fit 2.2 legacys with the msd upgrade.
I know most of you encouraged to go OEM, but I'm willing to try the wires and maybe give a review of them later, for now we'll see how it goes. :)
