"The Official Maryland Meet"

That time of year is upon us, and this meet has officially become an annual event. You are invited to join us at the 2nd Annual Subaru Legacy International's Maryland Meet in the beautiful Centennial Park in Ellicott City, MD. Last year was a huge success with numerous year and models of Legacys. We will gather around eleven in the morning for some socializing before we begin grilling up some grub for lunch. Later on in the day we will have more time to talk, and even take some pictures including a picture containing every model of Legacy (if we can).

We are planning to use the facilities grilles for lunch, but we need everyone's help. Below is a food list that contains all the necessary items that would benefit the meet, and if you could graciously help by picking up an item on your way to the meet. We will also take some donations toward the forum, so events like this can keep going. If you have any questions or comments please post on this thread, or PM me. Thanks and we'll see you there!

- Chad

He showed up for a few mins last year in the Jetta. I understand 100% why he got it. 500hp STIs get crap fuel econ. A 5spd TDI Jetta Wagon on the other hand is pretty easy on fuel. He said he got about 55 mpg on a trip from MD to Indiana and back.

There is a supermarket nearby for anyone who wants to wait until they are in MD to buy the food they are bringing. Chad and I drove to it last year. If I remember correctly, it's less than 10 minutes from where we are meeting. It is a great option for anyone who wants to bring something that may not last the ride.

Are we doing a cruise down 83 like we did last year? The reason I am asking is because that same morning, Hunt Valley Horsepower is having their second anniversary Cars and Coffee meet (https://www.facebook.com/events/741077222576981/?ref=2&ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming)(<---event link) from 8am to 10am. I've finally scheduled time off for the meet. Now I need to go buy fuel for the S401!

Does it use special dinosaurs fossils?

Its some sort of mixture of 93 and race fuel I believe. Japan has better quality fuel than we do.

That's no way to think of it. This isn't a car show that involves winning a trophy, or proving your car is faster then someone else. It's a time to get together with die heard fans of a car model, and talk about good or bad stories we've had while working on those cars. I respect your answers for not attending, but you don't need to offer anything. I think most members will be driving over 2 hours (and even further for some) just to spend an afternoon together.

TheGipsy's car is pretty fast from what I remember. This (Click) (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?p=320031#p320031) is what he said about that.

The S401 will take the Imprezaab off the line, but considering the S401 is limited to 112 mph and the Imprezaab will go until I get scared, the Imprezaab can quickly put some distance between the two.
Actually, I'd like to see a race between the S401 and Rougeben86's swapped BE.It'd be interesting, that's for sure. But ultimately the S401 would get trashed, for the same reason I stated above.

It sounds like you need to go for a ride then.... you may change your mind on that.

The S401 would eat all on a track. I am 100% sure of this. Not only that, it would be so composed that you could enjoy a bit of tea and crumpets inside the car while doing so.

I'd like to second this. Knowing how a BE race suspension normally feels (I have Tokicos), the S401 is totally different. He took me around a clover leaf at 60mph (?) and the car felt so stable. I personally was waiting for the tires to lose grip, but some how he kept it on the road. And then, on the road, it rides almost like a luxury car. It's a weird mix of stiff and soft at the same time.

You should go. I can understand if you were concerned with costs (I remember how much it was to go up there!), but weather should be fine (you are going south afterall) and the vehicle shouldn't matter either (There were a few non-Subarus at the last one, remember?).
Ultimately, you should go if you feel comfortable doing so. That goes for anybody.

Muse, it's a compliment that youre even comparing my car to TEH S401. I've ridden Yama's car; it has such a meaty torque curve and great power delivery, and the ride and handling strike a perfect balance IMO. There's just something to be said about the attention to detail that a manufacturer-special edition model has that even the nicest of aftermarket builds just can't match...

Anyway, I'm 50% sure I can go; I need to find someone to cover my overnight so I can even think of being safe enough to do the roundtrip drive down there.

If it rains, it'll be the 2nd year in a row for no S401 ride-alongs, so here's hoping for dry roads!

I am trying to dig up a third radio this time around too. If you want to do what you did last year, I think it would be more fair if a third person were to call "go". If I can find the microphone, I will likely use my car-mounted radio, and actually USE the NMO mount on my trunk for once.

You live 5 min from the park. I am an hour away. Don't want to drive the 97 with salt still on the ground.
Hey, I was mostly just teasing you. :hello2:

...but is there really still salt on the ground where you are? That's crazy! The rain has washed it all away here.

I'll re-post this since it seems like it was forgotten...

Still need some volunteers to bring some items for the cookout.
We'll probably bring some Japanese food like we did last year. However, instead of Tonkatsu we may opt for Okonomiyaki. We'll see what we feel like making the day before.

If your Okonomiyaki is anywhere near as good as your Katsu.. Then we are in for a real treat!

I know you guys are messing with me. I have not had time at all. Work, taking care of my daughter, water damage on the house and 2 long weeks of working on my old 02 wagon has taken a toll on me.

I can finally say for sure that I'll be heading down for the meet! So I'll see everybody next week.

I'm not sure if the list of stuff that people are bringing is up to date, but I can bring ketchup and mustard, as well as plates and utensils.

Looking at the weather....
The rain on Friday should wash away any salt that gets put down for Tuesday. And it's down to a 30% chance of rain on Saturday...
*fingers crossed* I hope it goes lower.

Its worth driving to see it. By far the cleanest 2nd gen I have seen in person. Possibly the cleanest Legacy. I understand 100% why he may not want to bring it down.

I find it amusing that of the three the Spec B is your DD. Seeing as when they were all new it was the most expensive/rare one. Granted the 05 and 97 are ridiculously clean. I am excited though. The Spec B is the one I have not seen yet.

I had washed my car last Saturday when it was super nice and spring-like out in preparation of the meet. Now there's tons of snow and salt and grime all over my car from this little storm that's still dumping snow on South Jersey. Dammit.

I'll have to give it a reeeeally quick wash between class and work on Friday.
