Hey All!

So we made it up to Sherwood and are settling in nicely. We towed the legacy behind the Penske moving truck with the front wheels off the ground and the 4 bolts/nuts/washers removed that secure the driveline to the rear diff. I didnt remove anything else so the two surfaces (end of rear diff spindle and end of driveline spindle) were touching but not connected so they could turn independantly of eachother.

Today being Friday, I decided to take the legacy to work which is about an 8 mile drive 5 of which on I-5.

At about 70 mph I noticed quite a bit more NVH than the last time I had taken the legacy up that fast.

Not much of a vibration but more of a loud humming.

Driveshaft carrier bearing?

I did get a used driveshaft when I did the 4EAT to 5MT swap... Oddly enough, the driveshaft that I got used was a "serviceable" drive shaft with grease fittings on all of the U joints... maybe hit them with a grease gun?

Well, since you were effectively driving the diff with the rear wheels (reverse of normal loading), the ring and pinon are probably worn funny in the rear diff.

Well I have been DD this every day and have lived with it... today I got it up to 80 mph and it is definitly a vibration.

Considering it doesnt happen unless I am going over 70 or so AND the only thing I touched for towing was the 4 bolts/nuts/washers for the driveline... I am thinking I might have missed a washer on one of the bolts causing the driveshaft to not be balanced.

I will check it out this weekend... for now I am just having too much fun tearing up my wet grassy field.
