BG Wiper size

If I buy the windshield wipers listed in the book at the auto parts store my passenger wiper hits the hood just a little. Is the recommendation wrong, the wiper arm a little off, etc...? What I'm asking is this a common finding among Subie owners or do I just buy an inch shorter and stop whining about it?

I put an 18 on the passenger side and it seems conspicuously small rather than the 19. 21 on drivers is fine.

Make sure the arms are on the correct side. Ran into this recently on my car.
